The last game of the 74-75 season v Sunderland always has a special place in my memory. We'd just clinched promotion in midweek, and we knew we were back where we belonged. The sun shone, Villa Park looked amazing with 57,000 packed inside, the Sunderland team lined up and applauded Villa on to the pitch. thousands on the pitch at the end after a 2-0 win, all singing "We're Going Up". OK, the game itself was nothing special, but it was a memorable day for so many reasons - not least that it was my 21st!

Had a few in the Aston tavern pre-game and on the walk to the ground got caught up in a group of several thousand Sunderland fans who were being escorted down Witton lane. Despite being covered in claret & blue we were not subjected to so much as a dirty look. Bearing in mind we actually prevented them getting promotion that day their fans even had the good grace to applaud the Holte End as they filed past after the final whistle. Had an enormous respect for the Mackems ever since
