i would rather the board take there time and get the right man in.we dont want an appointment for appointments sake.mon waited till after mak hughes had gotta a place before he resigned.i like mcd but dont think he really wants it,but who can blame him hes done a fantastic job with the youths and reserves.this season will be interesting but mayb us villa fans will be more realistic now.

I think Kevin genuinely is undecided and I'd much rather him be honest with us than say what he thinks what we want to hear.

The level of ambition from the board will be evident when the managers position is filled. Whether that is Friday or 2 months away.

Well I like Kev but im not sure about him having the job now I must admit

Im am falling into this camp now but you know as well as me win the next 2 games with some decent football, Newcastle will be written off as a one off and we will all be happy again.

Apart from the obvious production line at Anfield through the 70's & 80's i really cannot think of a caretaker appointment who then got the job and made a success of it - so i fear for Kev that at some point his wonderful CV for nurturing young talent to the point of actually winning things will be tainted by being known as a failure as a club manager

I see we've been linked with Trezaguet this morning. It must mean that Domenech is the new boss!

I've always thought Dominech is the spit of MON in a grey wig. MON tipped France in 2006 wc and after what has happened to France at the last one and subsequently at Villa perhaps they are one and the same.  Someone get me some pills!

I really don't want Kev Mac to be honest. You don't learn your trade if you've never been a manager before at a top-6 Premier league team. Also, you don't then get the choice of telling the club in a week or so whether you want to be considered for the job. (Not that I believe that for a second - a bit too convenient that the manager will decide when its too late to do anything in the transfer market. I think its either a smoke and mirrors exercis e- in a good way, or veryamateurish from the club.)

You only have 38 games in the league. The first one the players responded well to what MOn had done and lest be fair West ham were poor. The second game is enough to show that he isn't the man for the job. 6-0 and I made mistakes at Chelsea is one thing but to make so many poor choices, and decisions, and to lose 6-0 at Newcastle should firmly close the lid on that coffin.

I hope we win tonight well because I don't want Kev Mc's reputation to fal;ter at teh first hurdle should he realise he likes the top job and wants to give it a go elsewhere as it is very hard to shake off the tag of being a good trainer but poor manager.

I can't say i was too encouraged by KMac's comments in the papers this morning. It sounds like he wants the job, but not the high profile baggage that comes with it. At a club as big as ours, that's not possible.  I just get the impression he'd be better off back on the training ground, or at a smaller club.

If it was a player humming and haahing about joining us we wouldn't want them.

He's an excellent coach and he should stay that or assistant manager.

I still maintain it's a smokescreen. it's the only way i can cope!

My take on this, is that Randy is trying to get in someone they have identified. KMcD is the fall back plan if they don't get anyone, if Randy wanted him all along he would be in place now as our new Manager.

Agree with you there Small Rodent and as each day goes by I'm losing the plot.  I'm sure tonight's game will be just the tonic I need.

Is he being honest or just sprouting what he thinks the owner wants to hear :)

Or he has been told to say

I'd doubt he doesn't have a laid out guidelines on what he can and can't say.

Assuming all circumstances are equal, surely.
If RL wants Mourinho or Sir Alex and can't get them until next season perhaps he has to make a compromise decision.

Just out of interest, when is the cut of point for stopping blaming MON?  When the new manager arrives?  January when he can buy his own players?  This time next year so he'll have had a full pre-season?
This entire season will be impacted purely by the fact he fucked off when he did.

Long term his squad will also impact on how the team progress too. I can't see how if the likes of DOL and JG's buys were still impacting on Villa and used even now to show how MOn had to clear out so many that the same won't be said about Mon.
After all he did leave behind some highly over paid, very peripheral players. My hope is that the new guy has more nous and can do something useful with them. more useful than paying a huge wage to sit in the stands or occasionally sit on the bench. At least the likes of Davis, McCann, Hughes, Sorensen even Baros, Angel served a purpose even if it was limited, Heskey, Sidwell and others, well
