Each to his own, but I'd rather K-Mac to Bradley as i think he's better equipped for the job.

In what way?

In the way that I think K-Mac has a better understanding of how to run and coach a professional football team on a day to day basis, a greater knowledge of players around Europe and knows the league we play in better also.

"No, I didn't feel the buzz when the fans chanted my name.If I could pick a team and stand there as the invisible man and see how it goes, that would be great."

Well do one then mate!

Well sadly, without any signings forthcoming, Emile has to stay. I'd play him over Carew right now too, after big John's horror display against Newcastle. That and the fact that 2 games in a week is too much for Carew.

Hopefully Gabby plays though.  :)

After reading that interview, I'm coming to the conclusion that K-Mac may have the ability, but he doesn't have the passion and desire to be a top flight manager!

oh no Macdonald in the sun has said that he thinks Heskey is a top top player and we will not be letting top top players go!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3111848/Kevin-MacDonald-to-decide-on-Aston-Villa-future.html

That interview has made my mind up. KM definately doesnt't want the job and I wouldn't be surprised if RL already knows this and has been looking for a replacement anyway. I think the "I haven't decided yet" line is being thrown around to keep the press at arms length. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone appointed Monday or Tuesday of next week, with at least one player coming in as well.

I too think he is giving the press smoke and mirrors.

Well, I'm hoping that's the case.

GingerCollins29 has been at it again:

"Press conference Friday is what I said, media speculation will be rife from tomorrow (Thursday) onwards."

Ginger Collins is full of shit.Look at the evidence media speculation is not rife today one iota.None of the papers have an exclusive on the new Villa manager coming in and it totally contradicts what Kev Mac has said after the Everton game he will get an interview or other managers will.
The guy has only 39 posts on VillaTalk, surely he is a bluenose just winding people up.

Are we allowed conspiracy theories in this  thread?
Seems to me he is saying I want to coach the first team and nothing more, so bring in someone to do the rest.
With the absence of games for 2 weeks after Everton the pressure will be off, with little chance of further player exits an ideal breathing space for RL to negotiate with a new man. Perhaps his plan all along.

Maybe ITKs should only be allowed to publish if they pay £10 to H&V or a charity. Then we'd know who really has the ear to the ground.

After reading that interview, I'm coming to the conclusion that K-Mac may have the ability, but he doesn't have the passion and desire to be a top flight manager!

Completely out of context. He says he's happy being a coach and he picks the players, but shouldn't be lauded by the fans because that's all he does, it's the players that perform on the pitch. He always sounds like a very humble and unassuming man, not a raging ego like some other managers. He's just different, but I bet the fires of passion and a will to win burn no less brightly in his belly (he did play for Liverpool after all). Given that Lerner himself is quite a humble person and the present Villa direction in general is one of unassuming pride in what we do (hence the lack of self-congratulating hype after we put Acorns on our shirt) then I would suggest KMac is exactly the right kind of man that could succeed here. He also talked of having a Director of Football-type in above him handling the media, agents, buying players etc, the kind of stuff which is a little superfluous to the actual game of football.

All in all if we can't get the right manager right now KMac should be given the nod until the end of the season at the latest, simply because it offers the path of least upheaval and disturbance to the way Villa are currently set up. Bring in someone like Graham Taylor above him too, and I think that would be a decent way to approach this season.

The timing and manner of MON's departure has, for me, cancelled out all the good things he did at Villa. What a pathetic and small-minded man. At the least he should have given Lerner more warning and carried on working until his replacement was identified given how close the season was to starting. He knew exactly what kind of crap he was landing the club in, especially as he took a significant number of the back room staff with him too.

MacDonald confirmed Wednesday’s Sportsmail story that he is to undergo a two-match test when he said: ‘I have spoken with Mr Lerner and we decided, if we wait until after the Everton game, we have a two-week break.
‘If I decide this job is for me, I’ll hopefully get an interview, speak to the owner and pass on my thoughts about how to take the club forwards.
‘If it’s not for me, then all the other people being considered will get their interviews.’

So, basically, he's been told he gets first shout at the job before they even interview anyone else.

It looks like we've made up our minds, and we seem to think we've got all the time in the world - waiting till after the Everton game for the two week break?

Waiting til after the Everton game proves a season of consolidation and no new players until January at least when it is considerably more difficult to sign players. With Heskey being one of our worst signings ever and Carew's form very patchy where are the goals going to come from?

Hi guys,

New poster here. With Jol out of question - I would be happy with the following

Ottmar Hitzfeld - superb record does he want back in to club football though. Might do Switz arent really going anywhere
Felix Magath - speaks English, fantastic record, rumours of bust up with Schalke board
Carlos Queiroz - still the likely one for me. He is hardly going to be too happy with the Portugese FA after they suspended him. Would be superb for our scouting record. Not a great club record but Id be happy with him and think he is gettable.

Other than that - Fatih Terim and Unai Emery both have decent records but not sure if they speak English

If we want a manager who got the most out of an average bunch of players at international level then Sven not Bradley. Sven wouldnt be a bad appointment really. We wouldnt concede too much with him in charge and again he would get in good players.

Bradley or Kevin Mc - what other jobs in the EPL would they be considered for? None

It's not so much the wait till after Everton thing as the see if KM fancies an interview first, and only then start to interview other people.

Looks to me like they desperately want KM to take it.

I don't know if that is because they think he's the best man for the job, or because he is the "easy" appointment. I suspect it is the latter, which would be disappointing.

I'll get behind him if he is given the chance, but if you look back, say three months, and asked "who would you want to succeed MON", I wonder what percentage would have said KM.

We probably did that poll on the old site somewhere.

It's all getting slightly depressing.
