No it's better to get a manager, not a man whose coached for 16 years, he showed nothing at all Saturday, bad team selection, no tactics and no change because of wrong subs too late.
So it's better to have any manager, on a long term contract even if we don't particularly want them?

I was in the German Cafe in Shirley earlier (yes there is one - check it) and Jurgen Klinnsman, Otto Hitzfeld and Nena were in there.

It's bloody expensive in there, and they put the prices up at night.

Would it be better to get a fifth choice manager on a three year deal or Kevin MacDonald on a 9 month contract so we can get a first choice manager next summer?

It depends if the fifth choice manager is better than Kevin MacDonald which, if we have any sort of half-decent shortlist, he should be.  I don't believe for a moment that the number and calibre of interested candidates is so low that a man with the sum total of 7 first team games management experience, one of which was a 6-0 thrashing, is a serious contender.

In any case, why does our first choice automatically become available next summer?

I didn't say that he would be.

I just advocated not appointing the wrong manager on potentially a long-term contract now for the simple reason that "we need to appoint a manager now".

If we can't appoint the right person I see little reason to appoint the wrong person.

I see we're all being flattened by the rush of big name managers desperate for the job - as some people seemed to believe would happen as soon as MON left the building........not

If u need a new boiler you get a heating engineer, you don't get a handy man because he is cheaper, and has bled a few radiators!

KM is not a manager and we are not a Blackburn everton midtable who can take a gamble on an unknown manager.

That's a point, and one that's been used a few times in the past couple of weeks. As has the phrase "five days before the season started".

Martin Jol -  "Villa will have to wait."
Svennis - "Big club, anyone would be interested."
Koemen- "I know they are looking at me, but they are considering others too."

They'd be pretty small names in most peoples book...not

In fact, the only potential target who came out and said he wasn't interested is David Moyes. And 12 more months of glass ceiling there could make him revise that.

Or were you holding out for Mourinho?

Koemen- "I know they are looking at me, but they are considering others too." - Thats  a really clear "I want the job"...not
Svennis - "Big club, anyone would be interested." - I assume this is Mr Erikson. He would do for me but from the various threads about a new manager, there are quite a few people who don't think he's good enough.
Martin Jol -  "Villa will have to wait." - Need I say more?

How the hell do we know who we have approached and who is interested or not?
