Stephen Warnock
« on: August 22, 2010, 03:38:43 PM »
He's not that good really. A couple of good games when he joined followed by a lot of really bad ones.

How many millions more did he cost than what we just sold Shorey for? He's certainly no better than Shorey.

He's just poor. Very, very poor. Not just todays game, but for a long time.

Am I alone in thinking this?

This isn't just a reaction to todays game either.

He is a lot better than Shorey.

His form is a worry i have to be honest, but overall i think he is a reasonable FB.Certainly not our worst player today by quite some distance.

I'm hoping he'll be fine.

We could do with a decent back up as cover though!

I can't see how he's a lot better. They're both dodgy at defending, but Shorey had something about him when he went forward.

He's not though is he. No wonder the gutless c**t resigned. He realised how much of Mr Lerners money he wasted on some very average players. The only pity is he didn't resign sooner.....

Warnock is a good defender, watch the Ure game at OT, last year and see how many blocks/tackles he gets in.Shorey would'nt do that.

As someone said earlier, for me he has not been on top form since the 2nd half of last season, and he has been shite in the last 3 games. He needs some competition.

He is clumsy and a bit of a wuss, which is a big problem with Downing playing on the same side.

The Downing comment is very valid - I think AY covered Warnock alot better when he was wide left.

He wasn't out worst fullback today.

His recent form is poor, true but he's a decent left fullback.
Today it was hard to call any decent defensive performance, from midfield to keeper, but then with 2 stalwarts injured a young untried kid, playing 3 matches in a week, and a new player in central midfield, who is not a defensive player and no defensive midfield player is it surprising

Dunno how true it was/is, but apparently MON and Warnock didn't get on. Warnock refusing to move down here causing most of the friction.

There was talk of him going back to Liverpool this summer. He's certainly playing like someone pre-occupied.

Looked quality for two thirds of last season, and good players don't become bad overnight.
Hope he sorts it out soon either way.
