Ashley Young isnt going anywhere. Out of interest, who is supposed to be able to afford him?
Chelsea, Man City arent interested apparently because we'd know by know. Arsenal could perhaps but I cant see Wenger being after him.
Spurs? Do me a favour.
Just look at how difficult its been for moneybags City to get Milner. All that money and a really good player in Stephen Ireland and we'd ask for more for Ashley Young, I'm certain of that.

No, a few quid and Robbie Keane arent going to cut it even if I thought there was serious interest from Spurs (which I dont).

If Spurs get through their CL qualifier then they'll be in a position to bid based on the guaranteed revenue from that.

Exactly. They're holding fire until they have more money and more appeal. It still might not be Ashley but it'll be someone fancy I suspect.

You really should try to read and understand what I've posted before you go spouting about what I'm willing to believe.

I'll re-post it to save you the trouble of having to look for it.

I'm just saying that there's a fair chance given what has gone on this week that Ashley might be considering what is best for him. I don't think he's likely to demand a move and I'm fairly confident that we'd not be in a hurry to cash in but it would be a major surprise if he didn't at least want to have a chat and get some reassuarances.

Sorry, Chris.

I get what you are saying here. I think he will want assurances about where we are going and you are right there.

I don't think it is likely that the board are too willing to sell him and I'm getting a bit peeved by some of the posts on here (and I wouldn't say you are one of the culprits) to the point that I'll jump on a post if I take it as meaning something it doesn't.

I think I need some time off the internerd and take up fishing or golf or something relaxing where I won't hear the words Aston, Villa, Martin, O'Neill and worst of all Tottenham and Hotspur.

but it would be a major surprise if he didn't at least want to have a chat and get some reassuarances.

i imagine that applies to every player at the club and you'd hope faulkner or lerner had been down to bodymoor heath to allay some fears in the past 72 hours.

you've also got to remember that some of the players have been away on international duty, including ashley.

Ashley Young isnt going anywhere.

Were you not one of those saying that about Mon.

I know I did because I didn't think RL wanted him out yet and I thought Mon was telling the truth when he said he never quit a half finished job. I should have trusted my instincts more where he was concerned

Right, so we both didn't think MON would walk out and he did. What the fuck has that got to do with Ashley Young?

Sorry bit hard for you to understand?

Simply you and I were wrong in thinking Mon would quit, so possibly as both think Ashley is going no where we might be wrong again.

Nothing sinister but I suppose you need to let off steam .

Dan Roan (BBC) reporting on Twitter that talks were 'positive' and Ashley going nowhere 'for now'.

Malcolm, do you think you've missed any threads out in your desire to tell us all how right you were.

I don't think so, but it's best to make sure in case anyone this side of the moon missed it.

Is that how you see it Lee, how strange.

Yes, it is how I see it, and yes, you are strange.

According to one of the rags the deal would be £9m + Keane as well, which would be gutting. You know Harry will get top whack for Keane though.

That would value Keane at about £20m

Rest assured, the board will do everything in it's power to keep Ashley happy.

Like they have with Milner ?

FWIW, I think Ashley is very settled at Villa and in the Midlands, and Spurs can't afford him.

No money plus Keane would do the trick either - but we ought to be bidding for Keane ... if we had a manager we might have been.
