It would also be monumentally stupid to demand to leave without seeing who is coming in as the next manager.  As mentioned above, this is probably a meeting about extending his contract, if there even is a meeting taking place.

I'm personally ignoring all stories about Villa selling anyone other than Milner or signing anyone other than Ireland.  Nothing else is going to happen until the manager is sorted.

Out of interest, if we were to flog Ash to Spurs would that change anyone's views on O'Neill's departure?

Yes, I'd begin to question the ambition of the board.

As it stands I don't think they'll sell him.

wouldnt change my view of o neill as a manager - he should have gone in may. i would however give up on the top 4 dream and expect 8th to 10th for the foreseeable future if we sell ash as well, i can see him saying its because o neills gone and randy sayin its because he wanted to go ,.ash leaving to a london club would not surprise me , i think it will be chelsea though!

According to one of the rags the deal would be £9m + Keane as well, which would be gutting. You know Harry will get top whack for Keane though.

If he feels that we're not going to sign the players that will give us a realistic go at getting into the CL then he might decide he fancies going to a club that will.

Fuckin hell Chris, whats up with you man? Your not normally this downbeat, Has your Mrs hid the knives?

it's not looking good is it chaps?
With a billionaire in charge you would hope that we can see off interest from a club with a mere multi-millionaire in charge!
Milner being tempted by mammon
ash being tempted back to the smoke
sell to buy
lower the wage bill
no manager

I was so looking forward to this season-about a week ago ;)

The complete lack of quotes on this "story" is telling, imo.

More sort of thinking out loud, Phil. We're all confused about what is going so I imagine the players are even more so.

Cheer up, Chris. It is just newspaper nonsense.

Normally we'd just write this sort of story off as bullshit. That's probably the best approach now until we see how it all pans out, if only for sanity's sake.

Times must be really bad, as Chris is the most upbeat and positive looking poster on here. He's gone Gregnash!

MON going for me is no disaster,
Milner going for 25 mill or near on is good bussines,
but if A Young leaves as well, then we are in the the big brown stuff,

They've just removed gullible from the dictionary.

If they sell Ashley Young which is every bit as likely as me getting balls deep in Megan Fox they will deserve every bit of venom they will get. Indeed I might have a few protests in me, perhaps even a few 'fuck off back to Yankee land, young Doug' posts.

Some unknown didnt wish to be named due to his profession, stated on Radio WM the other night that Ash had sold his house in Pedmore (Stourbridge) 3 weeks ago ?

This if true, is probably why MON walked.

MON walked because Ash sold his house? Was he a big fan of the conservatory or something.
