so we are just waiting to see if Houllier wants the job now, before it can be annouced.
i remember the stick KMac got when he didnt know whether he wanted it or not.

if he's got any sort of nagging doubts, Family or otherwise, then at his age its not going to work when the pressure hits home

As much as KM is valued by us and the club, the manager shouldn't be forced to work with people that he feels uncomfortable with, or where there may be some tension. Imagine having to work with someone that got a job that you wanted. Unless some clear parameters are set, then it's going to be a difficult situation. I hope, I think as we all do that there is a good resolution to all of this, because KM has been brilliant for Villa for so long. Ultimately the manager has to be able to do his job with the people he knows will carry out his instructions. Anything less, and it becomes an unneccessary distraction. We've had enough of those this season.

Totally agree with that, Also agree with this bit

The club’s owner Randy Lerner appreciates the work that MacDonald has put in since filling the breach on O’Neill’s departure, but the American has decided that MacDonald does not have the global profile required to manage a club of Villa’s stature, preferring instead Houllier’s record with Liverpool, and his extensive contacts in the game.

Tried to read the RAWK board this afternoon to see what they thought of GH

I'm not fluent in scouse so most of it made little or no sense - but the jury on GH seemed to be:

on one side - he saved the club from the turmoil Souness / Evens (even though he was part of the original dream ticket) left them in and restored them to somewhere close to where they felt they belonged - competing and winning things even though he didn't manage to win the PL.  They felt he went downhill after his illness and never recovered - and that Thompson was largely responsible for managing the team - but all in all this side of the fence was happy with him and felt he had done a very good job by and large.

the other side - essentially the devotees of the FSW couldn't see past his comments that the FSW had won the CL with a squad (GH's squad) he inherited and therefore did not deserve any credit. Clearly blasphemy in the church of the FSW - and so he was branded a twat forever.

The main worry though was there seemed to be unanimous agreement that his tactics were defensive and towards the end consisted of choosing defenders, not on their ability to defend, but by who could lump the ball the farthest - essentially the tactic was hoof it to Heskey as fast as possible and hope the Owen could clear up whatever shit Heskey could come up with.

Sounds a bit MoNesque to me - except without the Owen bit, leaving us with lump it to Heskey, then defend the throw in/goal kick after he inevitably falls over and the ball hits him somewhere (unless it hits him in the gonads - in which case rejoice as he's scored, that bit of him is lethal - see Rapid)

Really hope we don't get more hoof ball - wouldn't say GH would have been my first choice - but when you consider what we nearly got (or indeed might get if he decides to stay in France) it could have been worse.

Yes I wanted o neill to go and have done for some time, his tactics, favourites, selections and style of football showed me he had taken us as far as he could- I am delighted he's gone and I hope houllier will do much better , I'm sure he will do.

I was fully behind o neill for the 1st two years until serious cracks appeared , I don't see why wanting o neill to go has any bearing on me giving GED and thommo my full support.

Is it now a requirement, that to be a Villa fan and to wish the new regime well, that you must have loved the Blessed O'Neill ?

Oh and if that comment winds anyone up, tough shit, get out your hankies and have a little cry.

Maybe cut down on the steroids for a while.

Eh?
RAWK is similar to bluemoon with the exception posters on bluemoon are wayyy more obsessed with United than people on RAWK are. Oh, and most posters on bluemoon want Mancini fired after they lose.

Never been on it but I think it would be hard to get a better supporters website than this whatever the team, this site Is well run and everyone gets to express and debate a whole variety of issues.

I hope KMac finds a role in the new set up, but I agree about he shouldn't be forced on the new manager as an assistant.
