I quite like the thought of Thompson teaming back up Houllier.
I have always found him to be very passionate in everything he says and that can only bode well for spirit within the club.

Deserves a chance more than anything.

What are the odds on little Sammy lee as 1st team coach? Now hodgsons at anfield Sammy may get the call to complete the trio who had success together at Liverpool! I welcome GED and his staff to our club and I hope they have a long and successful spell here .

As for kmac he had the chance but performances under him were very poor after west ham and I hope he goes back to reserve coach- maybe his kind words about mon did him no favours either!

GH, in my opinion, would be an ok appointment - not as good as Moyes or Jol but better than some of the other rubbish we have been linked with. However, I am a bit concerned about his previous tactical record - a little over defensive for my liking - and I'm not convinced he is that good in the transfer market. Considering, pre liverpool, he had such a huge role in the French youth setup his young french buys were far from successful while people like Wenger manager to pick up little gems everywhere.
All in all, a reasonable appointment but nothing to get too excited about. Will leave in 30months following midtable mediocrity.

No. I'm sick of this summer. Absolutely sick of it and want to put it behind us. We won't finish in the second half of the table under Houllier. We can only improve from here.

i have calmed down now, and if lerner and co want houllier and thompson there is jack shit we can do about it " even though we spend hundereds of our hard earned cash on the club"  so all we can do is get behind them, give them our support and hope for the love of god things go well

Did we drop to the bottom of the league when I wasn't looking?

Considering who was available I think Houllier is probably the best bet as manager, but I will be irridescant with rage if he brings that big-nosed cockmeister bigot Phil Fuckin' Thompson with him.

There are rumours beginning to emerge that he's resigned from Sky.

Actually, it's Sky I don't like, he can't help the way he speaks about the club he loves and lets that myopic vision cloud his statement on every other club in the world. Why can't Sky see the value in employing people who can make well-observed, rounded, fair and objective statements and opinions about football, rather than those they have?

Anyway, if he pitches up at B6 as the number 2 he'll get my support.

I'm referring to the chaos that has been this summer. Thought I had explained that pretty clearly. Obviously not. I will have to explain statements more simply in the future.

I don't mind if Houllier is appointed manager, any other type of role for him will be just fcuking around. A director of football appointment will be wishwashy bullshit that will backfire.
Unlike our ex manager, Houllier has actually won a few cups and championshionships (in a credible league)as opposed to MON,  an over inflated sense of himself based on a two horse race in Scotland, a league cup and a loss in a UEFA cup final. MON is a good manager, but he is not as good as he thinks he is.
We need someone to stabilise things, a rookie like KMAC managing with Houllier looking over his should will make more problems than it solves.

Have you all read Brad Friedel's biography?  Has Mr Lerner? Brad despises Phil Thompson, so it does not seem possible they could work together. "I'm not sure what happened to him when he gave up playing.  He changed from a guy who believed he was destined for great things into a coach who maintained a negative disposition.... Thompson would rant when things went wrong...it had an adverse effect on most of the players." (pages 183-4.)

we are all in this together , please lets get behind gerard and thommo and give them our full support and backing , they are coming to our club and they want to succeed as much as we want a successful aston villa - lets put personal feelings to one side and enjoy the journey and see where they take us!
