Looks like Houllier then, considering we can't really get the likes of Jol/Moyes after O'Neill left us so far in the shit, I'm relativity happy.

Plus, he knows all the french youth, we might get a few quality young players in.

Why can't we still get the likes of Jol or Moyes ?

It's a pretty poor choice overall.
Pretty galling when you see the strides Spurs have made in the last 12 months, we seem to be going backwards.

Quite.

Well, theoretically we still can, but Moyes and Jol wouldn't want to move clubs this early in the season i fear, and we'd probably have to throw a lot of money at them, which I'm not 100% sure that we have.

I'd be over the moon if we got either of them though.

Er... assuming that IS the choice.  Wasn't the choice Curbishley yesterday?  How do you know it won't be something different tomorrow?  Isn't this just the club exploring different options?  Weren't the odds for Moyes taking over plunging just a couple of days ago? Why is it whenever a new rumour surfaces people go "well that's it then"?

According to the papers, there were only two candidates in the final round, possibly Houllier and Curbishley. Houllier is the favourite, but a final decision will be made during the weekend, and the new manager will be announced on Monday.

If Houllier is the best our board can come up with, and Curbishley a close second it would seem that they are in the wrong job.

Out of work managers tend to be out of work for a reason.

Houllier has won more silverware than Redknapp ever will.

A couple of things;

First, this Director of Football thing. I agree with the poster above that for all intents and purposes that Alex Ferguson is more or less a DoF. And for that case O'Neill was, and probably half the league managers. Leaving the  Assitant Manager with "coaching".

Second, there are some right ignorant people on here regarding heart problems and recovery.

Gerrard Houllier? Who?

He's a nobody.

I will be fucking furious if he gets the job.
