None of the managers mentioned who are going to come are good enough for villa. Sven, Houllier, et all are all rubbish.
Leave to kmac till someone better becomes available. We are 4th as it is and he hasn't even had a full squad to choose from as Cuellar, Gabby etc have been injured...
Anyone who wants Sven or Koeman or a "name" are just falling under the "commercial" spell of the premiership and sky. We don't need a name. We need a decent manager. None are available.
You want the manager equivalent of Heskey? Sure Sven and Houllier etc might have achieved in the past and in a different era, just like Heskey. Times have changed.

Dear me!.......some of the people on here who were constantly moaning about MON, are now advocating Curbishley as a replacement.

Completely unsatisfactory in every way, no success, no threat of sucess, not up and coming, been out of work for 2 yrs, NOT a Villa manager.

Small Rodent is right , with a bit of tinkering we are not far off a really good team.Only people like Moyes,Hughes, Hiddink or Jol should be considered, and if we have to wait, then we have to consider giving KMac the job on a weekly basis until our main target becomes available.

If Randy want opinons about Sven, he should ask Richard and Stephen.

And if Randy wants opinions on who he is banging now, then he should ask Richard and Judy

Right - Looks like Eck and the board are falling out over at the Sty.  I'd take him.  Any thoughts?

I'd take him. He is actually a decent gaffer in spite of his current employers.

I'd take him as well.  He's a half decent bloke and he likes the odd game of cricket (and that's strange for a Scotsman ;-))

I would be happy with McLeish

more boring functional football, pack the midfield with a load of defensive midfielders, playing one man up front, sending the team out not to lose rather than play to win.
no thanks

That's because he's of the players at The Shit.

It's almost impossible to judge Curbishley v Sven or Moyes v Wenger because they are all working under different circumstances.

For me one of the most important questions Randy should ask when choosing a manager is:

Which manager has over-achieved in the job they are in or the job/jobs they have done?

There still is deafening silence still coming out of VP though isn't there.....

What are you expecting to hear? If they are still interviewing possible managers and haven't yet made up their minds, you can't expect them to be announcing anything. Randy is the last person to have a Twitter account to share the smallest details of his day with us. Mind you it could be quite interesting:

#Randy - 10:00 Curbishley has just arrived.

#Randy - 10:45 Jeez what happened? Just woke up after deep sleep.

#Randy - 14:00 Reception say Sven arrived 20 minutes ago. Have just found out that he has found a secretary to bang on the way to my room

#Randy - 14:45 Still waiting for Sven. That guy's got some stamina

#Randy - 17:00 Moyes interviewed well but I couldn't stop thinking about Gollum.

#Randy - 17:10 An agent called and asked if we could hold off until October as Mancini is interested and should be available by then

#Randy - 17:30 Peter Pannu called and asked how much I though he should pay McLeish - I said he's no Mourinho

#Randy - 17:45 Just had to call security again. Steve Bruce just won't take no for an answer

#Randy - 17:50 Kev Mac has called again. Poor guy, I don't know how to let him down gently

#Randy - 17:55 Chuck Krulak just called. He's on his way over after finishing sniper practice at the Discovery Channel

#Randy - 18:00 Still don't know whether to hang on for Sven. It could be a long wait.

I'd rather have Curbs than Macleish

why?

McLeish was my second choice had Martin not taken over back in 06

I'm keeping my fingers crossed Randy atleast offers him an interview, the guys got a 1 million compensation release and is stalling on a new contract, we HAVE to go for him IMO

anyone whos familiar with him before blues know that hes been successful everywhere hes been, hes a truly very good manager and he'll only improve blues.

seriously when you look at the other mentioned targets..

Curbishley - No chance, failed at west ham, successful with a small club
Sven - great track record, very good record for england which but i'd fear him leaving if a bigger club came in
Houllier & Zola - just no

I wouldn't mind Koeman out of the other realistic/rumoured targets, we're realistically not going to get champions league with spurs and man city competing with the top 4 with superior squads and bigger bank balances. So why not get a big name in european football who plays exciting football and has a history of winning things at big clubs rather than a steady eddy who won't do no better?

realistically we're not going to get a big name who hasn't failed atleast once otherwise they'd be at a european giant, Mcleish would be a brilliant appointment for me, yet to fail, able to attract big players to clubs (Hleb to blues, i mean fairplay), young, cheap and knows how to build a solid side.

Portugal have suspended Queiroz for 6-months.  Nothing directly to do with Villa unfortunately but it would suggest he might be available.

All he's done is make Blues hard to beat, the football is terrible and he's ginger. How many more reasons do you need? *winky*
