Curbishley....oh fuck !!!
Any one who says BIR-MIN-UM because they can't pronounce it properly should not get the job on that basis alone !!!

That's why Villa fucked up in Moscow. It was karma because of fans singing IS-TAM-BUL.

Maz is right, if Sven is on the interview list then surely curbs and kmac have no chance. Sven has all the experience , all the contacts and a track record as a club manager that few in the world could match!

I just hope we get a decision soon, I can't believe this has dragged on almost a month and surely a decision must be close.

With season ticket sales something like 40% down on last year, you'd think the board would want to apoint someone whose name will excite the fans and reignite their interest. Curbishley simply isn't gonna do that - just the opposite probably.

Reminds me of a tv series title - Curb(s) Your Enthusiasm!

Why exactly do people want Houllier? Poor for Liverpool, poor for France as I remember. Curbishley is hardly inspiring, but I'd take him over Houllier.
I don't want either mind and it would be pretty depressing if that's the best we can get.
Houllier Honours:Three French league titles with two clubs, with Liverpool one Uefa Cup, one FA cup,two league cups, a Euro Super Cup and Community shield
Curbishley Honours:Second Tier Play off winner,Second Tier league title

I hope this helps.

Under Houllier, Liverpool finished 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 5th and 4th. They also won the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and Carling Cup. I'm not sure if that is poor. Liverpool expected more, but the following seasons may have shown that those expectations were unrealistic.

Except for the one directly after when they won the European Cup, and two years on from that when they got to the final again.

The thread poll now is very misleading as time has gone on, not least because the fans favourite Jol is clearly not coming.

It would be interesting to see what the results of a "zeroed" poll would now be.

If availability and some sort of track record is a requirement the list is very thin:
Koeman
Sven
Bradley
Curbishley
Southgate
Kmac
Klinsmann
Houllier

Yes, but Liverpool also sacked the manager who brought them two European cup finals once he had a poor season. They want the title, and for some reason (probably their history) they (as well as the media) seem to believe that a manager that doesn't win the title is poor.

Daily telegraph saying Sven has had his interview , if true that randy has flown to Paris maybe houllier last to be done, although surely he should be flying here .

Looking at the credentials and the cv I would hope that the board can see Sven is the best candidate from Sven, curb, kmac and houllier but who is the 5th candidate?

So arguably they won the European cup with the bulk of the team Houllier assembled?

You could definitely argue that.

I was just pointing out that they actualyl went on and did exceptionally well the following season, rather than it all being a dampening of expectations.

I seem to remember that Houlier left Liverpool in a right old state. Divisions in the playing staff, discontent, rumours that he conducted his business via the local media, had favourites, was very stubborn etc.

A bit like a French O'Neill.

And I'm not sure whether the "success" he had at Liverpool was proportionate to the money he spent.

Then again, if it's him or Curbishley.....

Is it a well known fact that Curbishley's brother is the manager of The Who??

I'm still hoping the 5th candidate is a Magath, Hiddink, or Hitzfeld.....

It keeps me cheerful.
