By appointing him Randy would just show we are depending on miracles and as he is supposedly omnipresent, why didnt we appoint him years ago? I would ask "where has the money gone" and "Why have we got the only Billionaire who doesn't have any money" and I'd also be a spoilt brat.

Well, I'm not really arguing. I'm also wary of being considered some sort of champion of K Mac when I'm not really.

But you know there are no nuances in here. You are either on the grassy knoll or you are a Randy arselicker .

And really, after the money Randy has put in to this club, claiming he'd be trying to save a few quid here and there on the difference between K Macs and say, Koemans wages is just a load of bollocks in my opinion. A complete joke.

I don't think he'd appoint K-Mac to save on the manager's wages, but to avoid spending transfer funds, and resultant wages issues, a top new manager would want.

Actually, the word 'think' is to strong, more a cautious concern!

Do clubs usually have a list of applicants? I thought only international teams did that?

Most seem to go out and target someone.

Well, I'm not really arguing. I'm also wary of being considered some sort of champion of K Mac when I'm not really.
My issue is that appointing K Mac would be viewed as a cost cutting option rather than just what it would probably most likely be: a man who is already fully familiar with the squad we have having a short term crack at making the job his own. This isnt anybodys coach, its ours. And a highly repsected one at that.

And really, after the money Randy has put in to this club, claiming he'd be trying to save a few quid here and there on the difference between K Macs and say, Koemans wages is just a load of bollocks in my opinion. A complete joke.

Anyway, there you go. I'd like Hiddink, I think it will be Klinsmann (which I'd be happy with too) and I think the list will comprise of: Eriksson, Koeman, Klinsmann, MacDonald and McLaren. With Hitzfeld, Moyes, Hughes, Hiddink and Queiroz as (varyingly difficult) possibilities.
I also dont think any expense will be spared in getting the right man (Randy has shown this in American Football) and any new manager will be backed in the transfer market, even if it is MacDonald.
Fair play to you. As it goes, if MacDonald was to be appointed I think it would be less to do with a desire to save money than a misguided belief that because he is a quality coach he will prove to be a quality manager. I'm not saying it's impossible but I am saying he probably has a lower chance of success than most, if not all, of the other names you mention.

If the decision is to go with Kevin then I think, as has been touched on before, he's going to need a bit of help. It's all very well having the player here like him and being a respected coach, that doesn't prepare you for making the difficult selection decisions, buying and selling players or dealing with the media.

Without that then it's a strategy designed for steady as she goes rather than full steam ahead.

That being the case, it would seem a better idea to leave him as coach, because that's what he is proven to be very good at, and just appoint a manager as normal.

I can just see what wouldhat happen if we appointed him, loads of trouble a slow, steady slump, but then a massive turn around come Easter.

That would be my preferred option.  As mentioned before a Klinsmann/K-Mac dream team would suit me fine!

It would be worse than a slow steady slump - I reckon we wouldn't even get started until Christmas!

I think the majority of Villa fans think the same way, they have a lot of respect for KMac and want him at the club, but not as Manager.

If Randy & Co. appoint him, I think it will be a decision based on lack of alternatives who are in budget and available.

'In budget' is not just his salary package, it also includes the ( I would guess, verbally demonstrable) abililty to manage on a shoestring.

I think whoever gets the job has to be given the freedom to choose his own staff - it's no good making kmac assistant if the new man wants his own people.
