With Paddy Power you can get 100-1 against Dr Josef Venglos being appointed...

Experience of managing in the Premier League - check!
Able to get the most out of the players we've got - check (they did say he was ahead of his time!)

You heard it here first - that's all I'm saying!

I don't want KMac to take over, but I'd take him over Allardyce. I couldn't stomach Allardyce's brand of football.

I would rather Sam Fox than Sam Allardyce!

Yeah but even she would have her knockers...........................Sorry!!!

Jesus wept I don't want anyone in that article as manager. My choice would be Klinsmann without a doubt.

Randy is a proper ethical man, not perfect, no one is, but different from most other owners in the prem league,

i'm glad he's different, i believe he's better,
and does things in a more considered way which goes against the normal practise of football chairman running roughshod over anyone that gets in the way.

you only have to look at the 'deadline' day scramble twice a year, to realise football chairmen and managers havent got a clue how to organise there afairs, or things would be done far earlier, the way Fergie at OT does.
have you ever seen a  press conference start on time, no, thats because most clubs couldnt organise a two car funeral.

so Randy might be different, taking his time, looking at all the opptions, and even 'interviewing' prospective candidates, which i admit does sound a bit wierd, in the new hyper fast football world we now live.
but i still reckon he's a good bloke, and i'm glad we got him, he wont get everything right, ie the badge, but at least he tries to,

i wouldnt swap him for any other owner in the prem, i like the way he conducts himself and still trust him to make the right decisions for Villa , certainly untill he gives me good  reason not to

Sven or klinsmann on a 3 year contract would be far better than kmac on a one yr deal in my opinion- stand still in football and others will pass you, kmac has said he recommended players to the board, the fact they haven't signed any players suggests he's not their man .

I'd be most shocked and dissapointed if the ambition we keep hearing about turned out to kmac but I trust in randy to not give it to him .

I'd like to add that whilst my choice would be Klinsmann, it's vital that K Mac gets a place in the first team set up IMO - if he wanted to of course

We cannot afford to have KM in charge for a season, if we are not at least competing this season it could set us back years.

1. Ash will be off
2. We will be stuck with all these deadwood players that no one else will buy
3. No players will want to join us.

We need to do what spurs did and not fuck around, just go and pay what it takes to get Moyes/Jol.

Spurs did that and got Harry and look at them now, if they hadn't of acted and waited till the right man was "available" then they would have either been relegated or be stuck midtable for a few years.

Yeah, surely the fact that we got no one in during the transfer window indicates that we're not looking at KM as manager. Otherwise they'd of been brought in, even if just loan deals to see us through until next year, but nothing like that happened so i dont think its KM as manager.

This is also Randy's first managerial appointment. He may want to throw a statement out there by appointing someone more high calibre (no offence KM). Doug brought in MON but Randy has to go one better with brining in a big name. That could be a Sven, klinsmann or Guus. I really can't see him bringing in Fat Sam or Curbs.

The story goes that MON only agreed to come on the specific condition that Doug was NOT the Chairman. In short RL or whomever negotiated his involvement with us agreed that  Doug was allowed to claim the  appointment but would then leave on a high. Ego? Doug?   If you go back and explore the timing it makes perfect sense.  For whatever it is worth.

Yes it was pretty obvious to everyone at the time that Doug was no longer going to be chairman.

Just looking at latest betting odds. Houllier is 3rd fav on Betfair. Having read his wikipedia page I really hope we dont get him in.

He was no great shakes at Lyon and Sami Hyypia aside it made me cringe on reading his list of signings at Liverpool.

I honestly wouldn't pay too much attention to the prices at the moment, the market is absolutely all over the shop on this one, and has been since the day MON went.

They're just following the money, and there's probably not that much money being punted on it, so a rumour might grow from nowhere, a few people put money on, and the odds react accordingly.

Bob Bradley was hot favourite for about two weeks. Does anyone really think there was ever a chance of him getting the job?

When the rumours started floating around yesterday about the appointment causing a "stir", my first though was Hughes and that first thought has now become my second thought, and also my third thought.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about, he certainly doesn't have that bad a track record but isn't particularly inspiring.  He also has the hair of a menopausal woman, and I'm not sure I trust that.

I think he has moved beyond the menopausal woman phase and entered the Andrew Neill "brillo pad" phrase, which is even less trustworthy.
