The replacement for MON...?

I've just watched Kevin MacDonald interview on Sky Sport News and, as I think others may have pointed out, he does seem to be talking as if the job is his if he wants it! He said something along the lines of 'I'll see how this week goes and then decide if it's what I want to do'.

Now, if that is the case then I think it is sightly worrying. I personally don't think he's the man for the job at all, but the idea that perhaps we are waiting to see what he decides implies quite strongly, I think, that he is the preferred candidate.

I don't think that's the case. I think he's been told he is more than welcome to throw his name into the hat for the job and that there is no real rush. Take your time, get the first couple of premier league games and the Europa league qualifying games out the way and see how you feel about applying.
Don't forget KM didn't ask for this he's kind of had to carry the can while we sort out the mess oneil put us in.
The board new in the back if their minds they weren't going to be appointing anyone before now so it gave Mac time to decide if he wants to apply for the job or not.

The more I think about it, the more I think Klinsmann is the answer.  He'll bring technical nous and a structure that we seemingly lack given the shambolic showing yesterday; I'd expect him to bring German coaches with him and as we know they're no mugs.  Let's go for him.

My original thought was anyone but Sven but I'm warming to the idea even if it only on a 12 month contract with the option to review at the end of the season. He has a good reputation for establishing a solid base early on and making players play for him.

He doesn't always maintain that momentum but he is hugely experienced and at the moment I'm more concerned about the club going into free-fall.

How much was the news that this US manager (Bradley) was interested and had been in contact to do with yesterday's capitulation?

Do the players see no hope if he is the only one to show an interest. Apart from Maradonna?

nah, i just think yesterday was a freak and will never happen again.  due to kevs inexperience we just totally underestimated what newcastle would do.  they would keep going and going and fight and after 20 mins we just sat back and let them have the game.   downing should be been off at half time,  reo into the middle with petrov,  young to the wing and ireland behind carew !!!

If that were true, and I really don't think it is, then I would be significantly concerned about the professionalism and attitude of the players!

I know what you mean re an inexperienced replacement, but there aren't many experienced guys out there that would be of any use to us.

Im starting to warm to the idea of someone like Bradley who will bring something completely fresh and new to the club and hopefully galvanise the whole place.

If you think that Everton took a punt on Moyes..only experience he had was the Championship. Does that count for more than the World Cup?

peter I was saying the same thing on the General's thread. I don't know enough about Bradley to make a solid call. But having said that I'm really surprised that so many people have such strong opinions on him with very little knowledge. From the little I know, he's taken an above average nation in the US and beaten Spain and nearly Brazil with tactics. Something our much more distibguished manager didn't come close to doing with supposedly much better players.

Also, I don't know if he has an eye for talent or not. But I bet people would have had the same issue with say Steve Bruce or Mark Hughes and they have both introduced excellent players to the PL from arounf the world with very little transfer knowledge. Bradley may lack immediate knowledge of the European market but I would guess he has a much better understanding of Central and South America than most. Also, most US players who have played in the PL have done very well, and if he was able to entice his son and say Landon Donovan, it would be very good business.

I'm open to the idea and would give him a chance while not overwhelmed by the thought of it.

If it is Bradley, are we prepared to write off this season as one of experiment, and if it hasn't worked by next May say, "Okay, the gamble failed, let's go back to the tried and tested?" Or will we just moan and complain that Randy's gone for the cheap option and is more interested in cutting his losses/cracking the American market?

I have this feeling that Randy will pull one out of the bag..... Someone we have not yet considered but we will be chuffed about. Or the 'feeling; could be the chicken bacon and mayo jacket spud I had a t lunch....
