Darren Gough has to be the thickest man on radio, and just about the most ignorant.

Why am I still gutted about moyes' statement even though I knew there wasn't a chance we'd get him.

Never entered my thinking as a possible, so not fussed, plus I loathe the amn as he is such a whining moaning git, and fairly self righteous. Perfect for united.

Yes, he heads a very select list in making the likes of Jason Cundy appear to be vaguely intelligent. He's one of those laddish types who thinks if they have a nickname, are all bloke'ish and can knock back 7 pints of Carling a night, then they must be 'alreet'...

I bet if Mark Hughes hadn't already signed a contract with Fulham we'd have been in for him.

We still could, but it would be costly.

Just a thought, I wonder if we might go for someone like Pat Rice or Mike Phelan or another long standing/well respected assistant manager who may be willing to make a step up.

True but he never seems to be pro villa either. Cascarino was really interesting.
"if a player left 5 days before the start of the season Martin wouldn't be happy"

I'm sure martin wouldn't be happy, but hundreds of players move 5 days before the season or into the season because of the transfer window, every year.

Not with zero notice, though.

The reducing wages has already started, with shorey now gone we must be at least 100k a week better off (than we were at the end of last season), once Milner goes that's closer to 140k, 1-2 more of the heskeys/sidwells will be enough to have that under control, particularly given the new sponsors.

Pretty much agree with all of your post Paul, but there is one slight flaw.
The problem is, no bugger wants any of our deadwood.
The simple fact is that they are on far too high salaries which no other club will pay, and the players themselves will not drop their wage demands.
I fear we will be stuck with a lot of the fringe players for some time yet.

Two or three of those players will be more than deadwood now the old manager has gone. NRC, Young & Davies are decent footballers, they were just ostracised.

I wonder though, had Luke Young gone to Liverpool and Sidwell Fulham if MON would still be here?

I just want someone who'll crack the Salifou conundrum...

Is he still with us?

Possibly.

With Sidwell, Shorey & L.Young going that would have been £110k+ a week off the wage bill?

Add Harewood to that list nearer 160-180 from some reports.
