Merson is coming out with some absolute tripe on SSN. Reckons we came 5th and 6th in the last two seasons and is saying we've been punching well above our weight recently. Oh yeah I forgot about those the 5 or 6 sides we've finished above that we really didnt expect to. Fulham, Stoke, Blackburn.... All far bigger clubs than the Villa. What the hell is he on about???!!!!

Jol or Hiddink

All other names would be a backward step in my opinion

As others have said, think we're really going to see what the board and Randy are made of now, and just how serious their commitement is. It'll either be a master stroke if they have someone good lined up and have manouevered MON into this situation, or a complete disaster if they make a bad appointment. Probably be somewhere between the two.

I don't think there'll be a shortage of applicants, it's their calibre that'll be interesting.

Curbishley or anyone of that ilk would be useless! Don't think for one second they would be got.

From rumours before, Randy has been frustrated at MON not being more ambitious with players bought in, so I still think the money is there for the right man with the right ambition, I just think MON has used up too many credits with the chairman.

Merson: "It's a shame Peter Reid's got the Plymouth job, he'd have been ideal"

Has he graduated from booze to crystal meth?

Haha!  What a prize pillock.

Everyone knows we should be trying to tempt Sgt Wilko from Leeds instead.  Maybe he'll bring Lee Chapman with him.

I agree with this. I also don't think  we're broke we may not have as much to spend as the last 2 years but I dont think were broke at all. I aslo think Randy was somewhat annoyed when he found out we had a bigger wage bill than Spurs

Maradona would be a great coup, as long as he promises to play with more than one midfielder.

Sorry. Ozz, I think that's just wishful thinking. It's clear we have to move players out to lower the wage bill. It's not sell to buy but the impact is just the same.

He couldn't do any job except Argentina, and even that was a bit wing and a prayer.

Big Phil Scolari please.

I have a horrible feeling it will be Bob Bradley as coach with Lerner in charge of transfers.
