Im sure the ref isnt gonna send anyone off

They must get Abidal back in the defence so Puyol can play centre half as Mascherano is useless as a centre half

Nuneaton 1 - 1 AFC Telford (Blue Square Bet North, Play off semi final first leg).  Just for some slightly more local, other game action.

Chris Smith is right. What awful weather! I got drenched this afternoon. It wasn't supposed to rain today either.

Over the two legs we were a bit lucky, but for those of us with a memory it makes us laugh to hear Madrid complain about referees' decisions, considering that for about 40 years they didn't even have a penalty against them.

When I first came here I thought the favourism was just a myth: until I went to the last game of the 83/84 season at Español, when Madrid needed to win to  have a chance of winning the title. Sure enough, two farcical penalties in the second half and the lilywhites could have won the league - until another fix in the Basque derby made sure that Athletic de Bilbao came out in front. My lot won 1-2 at Atlético, but it wasn't enough. This was the season Goicoechea (Athletic, in a 4-0 defeat) broke Maradona's ankle on 24 September (watch the tackle on youtube) and laid him out for four months.

So yes, I think Madrid were a little hard done by today, but I don't give a toss. Let's hope we shit on Manure in the final.

You could have left out "...as a centre half".  Possibly the most over rated player I have ever seen  as well as looking to be a complete prat.

I see Ronaldo has not only accused Mascherano of cheating (and Ronaldo accusing anybody of cheating is pretty funny), but has claimed he must have learned it at Barca because "he wasn't like this at Liverpool". There are no words for how comically wrong he is.

Very true, but did you see when Mascherano we down in the corner, rolling around but kept looking out to the ref to see if he had seen him. He is awful player, not his ability (though he is over-rated) but the way he plays the game - horrible player, reminds me of David Speedie.

Both sides have been a disgrace over the two legs. Barca, because they are better than the diving and play acting, and Madrid for being so negative in the first leg and being such bitter losers.

I really like Barcelona but their antics are a disgrace.  Thwey are that good they dont need to do it either.  A stronger ref last night may have made the game and therefore the tie more entertaining but Barca seemed to get every decision.

Having said that, I hope they get every decision in the final as well.

Did the ref send off Carvallho last night?
Did he book Adebayor after just coming on (he'd have then been sent off  bit later)?
Did he send off Adebayor in the first game for an elbow in the face?

Your buying Mourinhos diversionary tactics.

It's not just bookings / red cards.  It was every niggly foul and every 50/50 decision went Barca's way.  The ref was very poor last night.

Carvalho could have been sent off more than once and Adebayor was lucky to still be on the pitch at the end so i'd dispute that.

so would I Chris and what about Alonso and Arbeloa continually fouling ?

In fairness yesterday it didn't seem to be the cold, calculated fouling strategy which was so awful in the first leg. I'll never know what was said in the dressing room, of course, but it did just seem to me that they were pressing hard in midfield and Barca were, on many occasions, too quick for them.
