ashley young obviously in the position of shop window

Or being played in his rightful position. Imagine him playing there for Villa with a good attacking full-back behind him???

Like Walker?

don't suppose he's said to Mr Capello, I have to play as a second striker and take all the freekicks, corners etc

more like 'you will play on the wing'

Yes, Boss

Yes, Young should be back on the wing for us. It's where he's most effective.

So you reckon our manager who has seemingly fallen out with half the squad and doesn't seem too bothered who he upsets lets Ashley Young walk over him.

Doesn't seem very likely does it. Could it be that he likes Young paying where he picks him? That he thinks he's got others who can play wide but nobody who can do what Ash does in the system he wants us to pay?

perhaps GH desire to keep him at the club has coloured/ clouded his judgement in all things Ashley?

and AY has taken advantage of the fact that no matter how he plays he will still play the way he wants to and where he wants to.

Gabby is a far better second striker in my mind.

Young on the right, Downing on the left(if we must), Bent up front with Gabby

On the contrary, he's been excellent in the last 43 minutes.

It'd be interesting to see if MON would have moved him back out to the wing by now. Wasn't it the pre-season friendlies where Ash was tried in that position?

He didn't do much last week I agree but was good against Backburn and Bolton. That's a different point though, it's the idea that he s forcing Houlier to play him in the middle that I'm disputing, it just doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
