West Brom didn't have a sponsor last season (or the season before?). Instead of waiting they just sold them and said "if/when we get a sponsor we'll stick it on the front for free".

Granted, the sponsor was a rollover from the previous season ( NTL) but it shows what can be done.

It was.  I remember because we'd won a trip round the ground, including the dressings rooms, before the game and we got first look at the new shirt.  We got a look at other things as well but I won't mention those. ;-)
