Am I the only Villa fan to not totally dislike Arry ?

I like him, at least he knows what he is talking about, has genuine enthusiasm for the game, and makes some interesting observations as a TV talking head. Much like MON, in that respect.

As for allegedly taking bungs, I couldn't give a rat's ass, and that so called documentary exposure on BBC was a joke.

He's a media whore / rent-a-quote but I think he is a cracking manager.  All his teams play attractive football and are usually quite successful.

Something of a mis-conception when you take into account Spurs played more long balls than any other PL side last season.

that team outplayed us twice last season by a mile.

If you asked 100 neutrals who played the better football last season, us or Tottenham, how many do you think would choose us?

Serious question.

Players love him because he speaks their language.
Which is some sort of primitive mongoloid barking.

A bit judgemental Maz.

So? Have you not read any of my other posts?

Which pretty much proves the fallacy of most football-related stats.

Anytime I seen Tottenham last year they looked a bright, inventive side with more than one way of playing.

Us? Well, we got the ball out wide to Ash and tried to cross it. And if that didn't work, we got Ash to switch flanks, got the ball out wide and crossed it. And if that failed, we got the ball out wide and... I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this.

There is also a fundamental difference between smashing the ball up front (or to the flanks) or playing long, accurate passes. Something which a stat that only measures how far the ball travelled would probably fail to pick up on.

Tim and Paulie:-

I'm not saying Spurs don't play attractive stuff at times, just pointing out that they also like to hit it long, which is a good balance all sides should have.

What I was disagreeing with is the notion that Redknapp is some form of football purist like Wenger or Brian Clough.

£18 million (which is a lot now, nevermind then) and the majority of it all spunked on dross. Most of whom had the same agent.

According to Soccerbase, between selling Ferdinand and leaving West Ham, Redknapp bought the following players:

Song and Camara (from Liverpool) for about £2m each, Christian Dailly for £1.75m from Blackburn, and Todorov for £500K, who went to be a sensation for him at Portsmouth.  About £7m spent in total.

Thought there was more than that TBF, but either way the board at West Ham said they were letting him go because they were 'disappointed' with the use of transfer funds post- Ferdinand.

There was also a suggestion at the time (not sure how true) that the club were being checked out by the authorities and it was decided it was best for all parties if 'arry moved on.

The use of the same agent for most deals came to light about 18 months later.

Harry says he was sacked because of comments he made in a fanzine interview.
