I'm no expert, but looking at the size of the crowds in Brum, I would say there were many more than 100,000 that the Pathe newsreel mentioned.

Couldn't possibly have been that many as everyone knows all proper Brummies are blose fans innit?

Blimey,  That's incredible.  My dad was at that game, and how I wish he was still alive to watch this.

Grandad, Dad & Uncle were all there in 1957, unfortunately Uncle is the only one still with us
In 1981 I remember Dad telling me as a 13 yr old, "this is the first time for 71 years, might be another 71 before we see it again ?"  8)

"Those who remember the last time the Villa won the cup never thought it would be 37 years until the famous claret and blues brought it back again"

How unbelievably sad are those words, 53 years later?

I'll die a happy man to see us win it once.

My grandad and dad (both no longer with us) with the cup. Bet they don't let it do a tour of back street pubs these days. Grandad and dad are the 2 on the right of the cup in the picture , the lad on the left was dad's best mate growing up and a dingle.

My late old man was from Northern Ireland and a decent footballer (missed a pen in an Irish cup final for Distillery). He knew Peter McParland well it seems and said he was a top man. Heard him on AVFC and still a great Villa fan, live on South Coast I think.

As the pub would almost certainly have been in Cradley, you're probably not far off.
