Whats tge score lads jus signed in ??

4-3 to us.

Benfica raced to a three goal lead, then Heskey hit a hatrick (third one an audacious lob from the halfway line), and a Shorey curler from 30 yards.

i cant believe some of the negative comments on here

see that's the difference. Ours are when we're losing.
bit slow on the uptake? tonto

nothing slow about me, pigeon boy. But it surprises nobody on here that you'd show up when we're losing. Actually we're all glad because we need you to slag off some of our players to help turn the tide. Are you playing in your mum's basement again today with gregnash and Coopers Injury?

Inter? They played 4-3-3, with Eto'o and Pandev wide of Milito, Sneijder on the number 10 role and two defensive midfielders .

Why? ;-)

That was genuine question. I thought they played Eto and Mijlito up front and would you say Spain played most  games with 2 (Villa & Torres) up?

Hardly an orthodox 4-4-2, though, is it? Villa and Torres drift all over the place, so you end up with one centre-forward at most times anyway.

Besides, they went to 4-3-3 and played their best stuff with that system. 4-4-2, in the 1970s way we're playing it, is utterly redundant and totally dead.

sigh... did I miss spurs outplaying us last season then as well. oh forget they were 40 points ahead of us.Not

They were better than us over the course of the season and finished in the CL places, we didn't.

Also - and I find the idea of Spurs doing anything in the CL about as appealing as having molten lead injected into my eye sockets - their brand of football has more of a chance of doing something in that competition than our horrible, 1980s nonsense.

What annoys me about Villa playing against quality opposition like this is that I never get the feeling they're going to spring a surprise result. When Liverpool take a team back to Anfield having to overturn a deficit you just know they'll do it 9 times out of 10. I get that same feeling about Tottenham unfortunately. But Villa? Nah.

That's not really based on facts, though. We do spring suprise results a lot of the time. Liverpool away, Man Utd away - they do happen. It's beating West Ham, Wolves, Sunderland at home that's the problem.

Heskey looks sharp and fit.

Sidwell and Delfouneso haven't touched the ball have they?

The defending this pre-season has been piss poor.

That's been the bigger concern for me also. Mind you had Cuellar started at RB and Collins been fit there would have been an uproar. Not that I don't think we don't need to find a good RB, but we look weaker defensively for him not being there.

Aimar has just been telling Big John where the best strip clubs are locally by the looks of it. Our Norweigian striker looks quite pleased.
