Same old, same old. We get so far up the pitch but don't really look like scoring. This may only be a friendly but you can see the same problems at home repeating themselves again this season...

I fear you're right, but there have been some positives. Albrighton, Beye, NRC, and good to see Clark.

We desperately need something else up front, though, we look so blunt (even with Gabby). Oh, and something in the middle, given the exit of Milner.

Heskey has done well. He's well suited to the hold up play needed in our formation today. Unfortunately, it's asking a bit much if your one centre forward never scores!

Where's Davies? Have we got a deal lined up or he is another defender with a knock? I would have expected he would have come on for Dunne.

Has a slight knock apparently. Best not to risk him given his injury record.

Ah right. I had my hopes up then that we could start clearing up some of the dead wood that could lead to us bringing people in. So that's all 4 senior central defenders carrying knocks. It's a good job the season doesn't start soon.

Heskey's doing well. He's showing us what he's capable of at his best. The problem is as we lack a player who has a cutting edge we don't need what Heskey is capable of.

OWwwwwwww Downing!

Does Downing always have a brainfart, when there is "pressure" on him? like when through on goal or in the open to cross?

Reo-coker is doing well, and his passing looks more assured.

I don't think he's used to the crowds. Boro only ever used to get about 8 people.

One would hope that once the Milner saga has concluded that the funds will be invested in addressing all of those needs. I think we'll be fine defensvely whether or not we replace Luke Young or Shorey. We are quite poor in the final 3rd. 4 or 5 good new faces should spruce that up

Probably with the exception of Davies and Sidwell all of the six are useful enough players who are able to play more of a part than they did.
