I like it, as it is claret and blue. The only other time i can remember anything up the sides was the arrows on the Red32/DWS home and away shirts.

If it was too plain claret and blue a lot of people would have moaned its not changed much, so well done Nike for giving a different style.

As for the message with the 4 pictures of the setting up of stage in them...i am very envious of the bastard showing of the new retro track top in the second ad....can see me shelling out on that at some point also !

On further reflection, its similar to the 80/81 strip, but i wish it was even closer and had a blue collar trim. Hopefully the second strip will be yellow as i am lead to believe the third kit is last years second, the white ?

shame, as it has the potential to be stunning...

change the checkered pattern to a solid strip, and it would be a modern take on the 80/81 shirt and an absolute winner, in my opinion...

the checkered pattern absolutely ruins the whole design, and looks like some junior has added it there, just because they worked out how to use the align tool in illustrator... surprised it isnt bevel and embossed too...

subtlety is completely lost...

i have made my feelings known about the strapline on the logo...

overall, a potentially classic villa shirt, ruined by poor design skills...

Not so bothered by the pattern but the waffle under the logo is terrible.

But surely if you just had a solid strip people would just be saying that it is too similar to last years Arsenal home shirt? I know I would...

The 80/81 shirt didn't have a solid strip down it.

I hate the chequered pattern and would have liked a proper collar. I agree with someone above, the collar would have looked better as it is, only blue.

I really hope the away shirt doesn't follow the chequered theme, but sadly I think it will.

I'm not mad on the chequered bit either (or the waffle under the sponsor) but once i see it in the shop, i'll probably love it.

Was loitering around Bodymoor Heath about an hour ago, and I must say that the new kit looks particularly good on Van Der Vaart, Joe Cole and Forlan. Didn't suit Drogba for some reason.

They've put it up on the OS before the players have gone out to show it off too.

Not the best day for them is it!

I actually quite like it. Is the away kit definitely black?

Photos on Pravda now.  Lots of players in the new kit, but no Milner or Young (A).
