A lucky escape for Villa, 21 years ago today.

Taxi drivers in Sutton could be heard farting with relief as far away as Tamworth

Soccer: Taylor moves to re-sign Coton

BYLINE: By RUSSELL THOMAS

LENGTH: 231 words

GRAHAM TAYLOR hopes to make Watford's goalkeeper Tony Coton his first summer signing for Aston Villa in a cash-plus-exchange deal that will take Nigel Spink the other way, writes Russell Thomas.
Taylor, with Pounds 2 million to spend, has made a firm offer to his former club for the 29-year-old goalkeeper whom he took to Vicarage Road from Birmingham in 1984.

Further spending money for Taylor could be provided by Brest, who are considering a Pounds 300,000 offer for Villa's 21-year-old winger Tony Daley. The French club have already talked to his club-mate Allan Evans, available on a free transfer.

The FA yesterday made Birmingham's away games next season all-ticket until further notice, after trouble at the match at Crystal Palace in May.

Anyone remember a mag in the '90's called Total Sport? One issue was called 'The Hard Issue' and they had a story about that little fecker Hopkins and the dirty Blues side of that time. Well, it had a picture of Coton on his way into court and he was wearing a training top and trackie botts. The caption said 'Dress to impress'.
