Not gifted in the way McGrath was but he was a 100 % player who knew what being a Villa player was about and what it meant to us, the supporters. Legend. You just know he's a Villa man for life.

Ian Taylor - only one to stand out to be honest. Not enough about these days, but i believe someones going to com along sooner or later

So Mellberg isn't a legend because he wasn't as good a player as some people think he was, yet Ian Taylor is a legend?

I werent saying Mellberg wasnt a good player but he was, but just dont see him as a legend, my opinion

If I had to rate him out of 10 I'd give him a 6 and a half. McGrath is a 10 obviously, maybe 11.

He's just been sent off! In fairness he's bound to get angry playing against Sweden's traditional rivals, err... San Marino.

Does he still play in Greece?

He's a legend in my mind. Along with Ian Taylor. A legend is not just about being a quality player BUT showing a deep passion and love for the club and a true connection with fans. Whereas he's 6.5 to McGrath's 10 in terms of quality he holds probably as big if not bigger love and connection with the club. Ian Taylor is nothing close to the player Sid was but he is in most people's eyes a club legend.

And any excuse to show my desktop background and one of favourite Villa pictures

Love it, he's a legend in my eyes. A true Villa player.

Yep, Legend for me too. Not in the same class as Macca in playing terms but I believe the club and supporters mean far more to Olof than we ever did to Paul McGrath

I always rated Mellberg highly, as a defender was very good, perhaps his distribution let him down occasionally.

Could'nt understand why national media did'nt rate him so highly.
