The dutch kit doesn't have a check stripe down it at all. The guy on Arsenal-Mania who described the kit said that the Villa top was based on the Dutch shirt (I think he meant in terms of collar and cut, but with checks under the arms down the shirt.

The new Dutch top is on Nike Stores website. You can zoom right in and it has a white dotted strip running down the front, but no checks.

I did the Claret collar as the alleged top behind the Manure top in the leaked pics has a claret collar.

With a blue collar and without the check down the side that would be the perfect modern day Villa kit. If that is indeed the Villa shirt behind the Man U one then it does appear to have a nice dark shade of claret which is a start.

As for the away kit please no yellow shirts and blue short combos. Don't like yellow kits and in my mind it will always be associated with losing 1-0 at Anfield in the 1992 FA Cup QF under Big Ron which I watched with my 5 Liverpool supporting housemates whilst at university. Probably the most disappointed I've been after a Villa game and with Portsmouth and Sunderland to follow would have been a great opportunity to win it. I would like claret shorts with a white shirt (possibly with thin claret stripes on it). Arsenal had something similar a couple of seasons ago.

BLUE shorts? Burn the Heathen! Claret shirt, blue sleeves, white round-neck collar, white shorts, blue socks (with optional claret trim), no spots, halves and absolutely NO FUCKING STRIPES. That's what a PROPER Villa kit looks like. I suppose you'll be wanting them to tear down the A V floodlights next!
