It's that time of year !
Any graphics guys who can mock up a few ?
I'd like to see us going a little more up-beat - slightly away from tradition.
Our last two season's kits are so very similar, we could do with a little more inventiveness from out mates at Nike.
-
Our current kit has gone on sale at £25 a shirt in the club shop today.
So I guess we are having a new kit.
I've seen a few kits of other clubs so far.
I'd like to see something with a little more imagination, the current and last kits were too similar.
-
For once , can we buy the bastard thing in June for once please, so we can wear our colours on our summer jollies ????
Every other club seems to manage it.
-
This just goes to show that you can't please all of the people at the same time. Do something more imaginative and you'll upset the traditionalists and vice-versa. For me i'm happy to leave the home kit traditional and then experiment with the away kit, and this is pretty much what I'd expect to see this year...
-
I heard both the home and Away are exactly the same and it starts to look a bit tired after 60 washes

Agree. I like my home kits to be plain and simple.
-

You're not even trying now are you?
-
Shouldn't this thread title have a question mark at the end? I clicked on it, hoping to have a sneak peak at the new kit, not a request for guesses.
-
I have read on another forum that a guy who attended a Nike launch the other week saw a number of new kits for next season and he said that Villa's home and away looked akin to the new Holland home, but with checks on both shirts running down from under the sleeve.
-
We've had a new home kit every season since the 97/98 season. Even Man United aren't that bad.

In saying that, I think we're having a commercial sponsor next season.
-
Apparently our new shirt is grey just so it matches our style of play
-
Home shirt nice and traditional, not many changes please.
Away shirt white with a hint of claret trim. Third shirt be a bit more imaginative with.
These mockups from VT (although obviously with a different sponsor) would be ideal -

Get a proper long term sponsor in and keep the home shirt for two years, like The General promised.
-
I'd like an all black away kit.
-
I'm wondering, could we keep Acorns on the shirt with a new sponsor as well? It might get a bit clogged up, but I'd like to see our public backing carried on.
-
I liked the shirt with the draw strings when BFR was in charge.
-
If this is Arsenal's, ours could end up looking something a bit like it
(http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/ballhype/story_preview/2010/02/14/arsenal_home_shirt_10_11_leak.jpg)
-
Id love to see an away one similar to the one of 83/84 which was white with yellow stripes, partly down to the fact that i won a signed one as a youngster and got to collect it on the pitch at half time!! Agree that the home one shouldnt be tampered with too much.

I believe that that's against Premier League regulations. It would be OK in the Football League.

Lame. Even if we're not profiting at all from it? Ah well.

Oh...
-
Might be controversial, but I'd like us to go back to stripes for a season.
-
I'd like an all black away kit.
We had one in 2007/08, but MON wasn't too keen apparently.
Black isn't his lucky shade and we never wore it once.
Looked quality as well, shame.

How about following the template of other clubs abroad?
Main sponsor on the front, smaller logo under the players number at the back?
Atletico Madrid have that with Kia and Kyocera respectively. Doesn't look too busy, even with stripes.
-
Maybe it's time to get a sponsor back on our shirts and make some cash?
We've done a lot for Acorns, but maybe we can make more cash than previous. The 32Red deal was £800k a year! How shite! I'm sure we could get £3m a year now!
We can't keep Acorns on the shirts forever, even if it is a good deal.
-

You can't have a sponsor on the back as well can you? I thought it was Premier League rules? I mau have made that up though.
-
Id like to go for a Barca style shirt.... Im that desperate to see some good football ..
-
Whatever kit and sponsor we have, I hope it's better quality than the piece of shit they've been selling this season.
Bought my son a shirt at the VP open day last october, washed it once and the Acorns fell off ( I know it was autumn, but this was ridiculous). Took it back to the shop and the fella said that this sort of thing was common. He fixed the logo back on the shirt and it fell off again next time my son wore it. Couldn't be arsed to go back to change it again.
Oh, and I love Man City's away kit and their tiny sponsor's logo on it - the white shirt with the diagonal stripe
-
Slightly off topic but I've never been a fan of the new badge. Would prefer a return to the circle design.
-

The old River Plate stylings, I like that as well. It implies authority, maybe because it looks like a Lord Mayor's sash.

The Mita one with horizontal stripes?
-
Villa tour guide yesterday said rumour has it they are going back to stripes. Nike too.

Errr I think you might upset Randy but I agree. How about a white away shirt with thin claret vertical stripes too.
-
A modern version of that famous kit would be perfect IMO.
-

My prefered choice wouldn't necessarily be the circle design, but I know what you mean about the current badge. I'm not keen on it.
-
Proper shade of claret, sky blue sleeves, sky blue socks. Wouldnt mind seeing a blue hoop around the neck like the bootlace kit of 1992-93 but it wouldnt have to be a bootlace kit itself.
The only stripey home kit i liked was the 1993-95 one.
Away i'd like white shirt with claret/sky blue/black shorts (any one of those will do) but seeing as we have one already i cant see us sticking with those colours next year.
-
Villa should never, ever have a stripped home kit.
I wouldn't though say no to a second/third kit based on the classic 57 Cup Final shirt.
-
I'll be happy as long as they make the blue on our shirt match the blue on the badge, it looks stupid not even agreeing upon the shade of blue on the same item.
-
Stripes = no thanks.
-
No dark blue please, on any part of any of our kits.
-

Would have to be sold with a free teddy and slippers

I want a proper collar please...
-
Replace the girly dots with thin claret stripes and that will be one hell of a kit. Please make it happen!

It's fucking ridiculous. The shorts aren't long enough, no badge on the shorts, etc.
-
It's that time of year !
Our last two season's kits are so very similar, we could do with a little more inventiveness from out mates at Nike.
I'd say our last three season's kits, mate.
By the way, as far as kits are concerned I am a traditionalist, and I think that all the last kits (and not only the Nike kits) are a little bit too light, imo the exact shade of claret is the darker one that was adopted in the classic 1970's shirt.
-
Personally I would love the home shirt to be exact copy of the late 70's one with striped collar. The away if anyone can photoshop it would be yellow (or white) with a claret and blue stripe running vertical on the badge side, as Barcelona's.

Is the correct answer. I sincerely hope we don't go back to stripes.
-
That 70s shirt in Archie's comment is just beautiful. Nothing could ever match it.

I liked the one where we had the LDV log (i think it was LDV) which had the diagonal claret and blue stripe on the front.
Gave mine to a guy from St Helena I met in the Falklands whilst working there, after making him promise to spread the Villa gospel back in Saint Helena!

One step at a time. Maybe if we would to go for a Leicester style shirt we might start winning the League Cup. Twice.
-

The Mita one with horizontal stripes?
Yes mate, when Walters scored away at Spartak Moscow.
-
I'd love to see a modern day FA Cup Final '57 home shirt myself.
That and a yellow / blue / yellow away strip.
Let's move with the times.
Plus, we could win things with these kits ;-)
-
Assuming we have to have new kits every year I would like a similar looking home kit (must be claret with blue sleeves and no bloody sripes or I won't buy it). The most radical I could put up with would be some sort of claret zig zag on the sleeves. Ideally a black away strip.
For the season after, go for a centralised badge for the home shirt and white with thin claret stripes on the awayl... to mark thirty years of the European Cup season.

I've read elsewhere that the Arsenal kit above is not going to be their new kit.

'kin hell, it's Bruno!!
-
Who's the lesbian in the Middlesbrough kit?
-
I don't know what's funniest.
The angle and size of the shorts make them look like a skirt. Or the fact that he looks like he's been shot in the face by Homer Simpson's make-up gun (on the "Whore" setting). Or maybe it's just that he won't even be wearing it next season.

Camp as quiche.

Are Liverpool not being sponsored by Carlsberg next season then?

Villa should never, ever have a stripped home kit.
I wouldn't though say no to a second/third kit based on the classic 57 Cup Final shirt.
Agreed, say no to stripes, we're not Albion or Stoke. 57 style shirt as away shirt would look great with white, light blue or claret shorts.
-
I'd like the away shirt to be white with claret and blue striper collars, like the 70s/80s one.
Milan had a kit like that recently (red and black stripes, obv) and it looked cool and retro.
-
We should go for a remake of the 1993/94 kits.

I thought the club was actively looking for a money sponsor for next season? Fair enough really, have had 2 years with no money.

What?
Sorry, the balls reminded me of the Zeroids from Terrahawks and then my post reminded me of, well, one of your posts. No offence intended.

-
Why does everyone seem to think we're not gonna be with Acorns next season, have I missed something here?
I believe that it was initially a 12 month 'deal' however Acorns ran into trouble so Villa strecthed to another year.
The 'deal' whereby Villa supported Acorns was both a blessing and a problem to Acorns in that the charity 'lost' a great deal ts income from previous income sources with the public giving to other charities believing that Acorns did not need their money as it was 'backed' by Villa.
I think that Villa gave them another year to sort themselves out (Acorns).
May be wrong ...............

It was going to happen sooner or later.

Very proud of the club for supporting Acorns but as they say it had to end at some point and the exposure via the Villa can not be understated. The club also mentioned that we'd continue to support Acorns anyway.

From one of the comments on that article from someone who claims to have seen our new kit:
Villa’s home and away looked akin to the new Holland home, but with checks on both shirts running down from under the sleeve.
What does the new Holland home kit look like?
edit:
sounds like it could be very retro style if this has anything to go by: Holland shirt (http://www.footballshirtculture.com/10/11-kits/holland-world-cup-2010-nike-shirt-design.html)
-
Nike > Umbro
Hopefully who ever supply the kit will do a good job.

Umbro are great - they did the classic 80-81 kit and the 92-93 bootlace kit.
-
Not keen on Umbro at all. Even Kappa would be better than umbro.
-
I honestly don't care who makes it. As long as it is the right claret and blue, and in the right places. The away kit doesn't need to be white, but that's how I like it.

This x 2.
Adidas kits are probably the best out there....
-
I would usually agree but next seasons Adidas kits are shockingly bad.
-
I hate Umbro but Man City's three kits this year are three of the best kits about at the moment.
New England pair are nice too.
I'd prefer to stay with Nike though. Overall they consistantly produce the best kits. Plus they're the 'coolest' brand - it helps with our image.
-
Can't see us moving from Nike to Umbro.
I do however wish we'd launch a kit for the Blackburn game, that would be so not Aston Villa ;-)
-
I remember last year when we were all on tenterhooks waiting for this season's home shirt...and it was virtually the same as the season before's.
-
I would usually agree but next seasons Adidas kits are shockingly bad.
I've never liked Adidas kits.

From one of the comments on that article from someone who claims to have seen our new kit:
Villa’s home and away looked akin to the new Holland home, but with checks on both shirts running down from under the sleeve.
What does the new Holland home kit look like?
Wank
Nope, that's the Euro '08 one.

Man City's Umbro kits are bostin.

Man City's Umbro kits are bostin.
Can't agree, but that'll probably be because I don't like the colours rather than the manufacturer.
What I do like about Villa's Nike kits is the feel of them. The shirts themselves are much of a muchness but they're nice to wear.

If that's as adventurous as it's going to get we'd be better off going with Prostars!
-
I actually like Nike for the simplicity of their designs.
What I do like about some Umbro kits - Man City's being an example - is the material. Wool-based, not 100% polyester.

Agree, how boring.
-
The General has confirmed on his thread that the kit will be Nike.
-
Aren't Umbro owned by Nike now anyway?
-
That may be so, but if the General says it will be a Nike kit and we still have a contract with Nike, then I believe him that next seasons kit will be Nike.

Our Nike kits have been on the money I think.

Agree, VERY boring Paul.
-
They've all been OK I think, last season's was probably the pick of the bunch.
Nike shirts tend to be fairly easy on the eye, Umbro would have been fine as well, whereas Adidas have to throw their shitty three stripes over everything just to emphasise the point that it's Adidas.
-
Really don't understand the "boring" comments tbh. Most ppl want a simple claret shirt with blue sleeves so unless it's got some crappy design added it's always going to be relatively "boring". I much prefer the Villa shirts to be simple and classy with a few modern design features.
-
(http://www.footballshirtculture.com/images/manchester-united-10-11-home-nike-shirt-leaked.jpg)
That is uniteds new kit and probably ours behind it.
-
Or Burnley. Or West Ham, Scunthorpe, Weymouth, Barcelona...
-
Our Nike kits have been on the money I think.
I don't get what people are looking for. If you make it some bizarre design then you'll likely piss off more than you please. Keep it simple, the right colours and change it as infrequently as possible. I undertstand this change, so I hope we sign a long term sponsor and keep the next kit for two years at least. Then again we say that every year don't we?
-
We will never have the same kit for two years. Nor should we. If people are willing to buy them, then sell them. We already have some of the cheapest ticket prices in the league. We're not a charity.
-
That United shirt is actually quite nice and thats definitely our shirt behind it.
-

Most other clubs manage to keep their kits longer than we do. There's a difference between being a charity and ripping off your supporters.
-
How many teams keep the same shirt more than 1 season? We all have a choice if we buy the replica shirt or not, but as a team and as a business it makes sense to change the shirt every season. Pretty safe to assume it's part of any manufacturer deal also.
I bought the shirt last season but not this season as I simply didn't like the design. I'll buy next seasons shirt if I like the design...if not I'll prob buy a training or lifestyle shirt direct from the club (either way they get my money).
-
I like the freshness of a new shirt every year. I'd have no problems opting out of buying one though. I dont see why anybody else would find it difficult.
Choice is a good thing. You dont have to buy it.
-
Did a google search earlier and found a blog claiming our shirt sponsor would be "Twitter". Hopefully it's just a wind up.
-

Post the link.
That would be an interesting sponsor.
I don't know how Twitter generates money as they don't use adverts on the site and it's free to use.
-
That Man Utd kit - if real - is very early 80s.
If that is our Villa kit i am pleased with what i see of it, i prefer it when the sky blue arms cut off at the shoulders instead of going up all the way over them up to the collar.

look how shitty this possible tottenham kit is.
-
I have to admit I like it. Obviously based on their early 80s kit, simple no frills, and looks like a good fit rather than these tops that look like you could get two people inside!!!
-
That Tottenham kit is an abortion.
Their kit this year is a travesty, covered with random emblems and two streaks of piss coming out of the armpits.
When I think about Villa and Spurs it always comes down to this.
Villa's emblem is a Lion rampant.
Spurs emblem is a Cock.
I rest my case.
-
Ours looks disappointingly boring again from that photo.

Man Urinal

That's nice.
Retro feel to it, but as the bloke said, it will look considerably less retro with a mahoooosive logo slapped in the middle of it.

The Spurs kit, if its genuine, is absolutely horrible. It will suit them perfectly.

Dunno Maz, gut feeel mxed in I guess - but I am hoping not.
Last and this season's kits = tres boring.

Its a pity West Brom arent sponsored by Aon. Every time they lose they can moan that "It a on".

Aon used to be a client of mine.
They are a very aggressive ( in a good way) firm of Insurance and ReInsurance Brokers - American of course.
( Wonder who we'll be getting ? )

So a claret body with light blue sleeves = boring.
What do you want on an Aston Villa kit? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The hanging gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain?
-
An Arsenal fan reckons he's seen our kit (http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=57281&start=330)
So checks down the side under the sleeves. Sounds OK to me, and retains the usual claret and blue body and sleeves while introducing a new element to make it a bit different to the last two.
-
It would be nice to see our new kit get an outing against Blackburn

Whatever it's like I can pretty much guarantee it will be better that Tamworth's new kit.
I think we are switching sports to Rugby League:

-
Has somebody drawn that with crayons?
-
Are you supposed to cut out the chest area?

Leave us alone, we're poor, we can't afford Photoshop.
-
With a shirt sponsor still unconfirmed for next season I imagine we won't be seeing the new kit for a couple of months.
-
Sensible suggestions like the one above are banning offences on here you know!
-
Shirts? I think we should be sponsored by Desigual (http://www.desigual.com/)
-
if not I'll prob buy a training or lifestyle shirt direct from the club (either way they get my money).
Why not just hand it over to them?
-
They give me a shirt. I give them my money.
Thats how transactions work Dave.

-

Thought the Snowdome had gone bust?
-
I want the 1957 FA Cup winning replica shirt - never go out of fashion, but with long sleeves and Villa only do short sleeved ones at the moment.
I can't be arsed with buying a new shirt at £50 a pop every year, but I get my sons one.
-
Thought the Snowdome had gone bust?
Or was it just that it had its assets frozen?
-
Whatever it's like I can pretty much guarantee it will be better that Tamworth's new kit.

No, the leisure centre attached to it went bust, then The Snowdome bought it for something like a tenner and reopened it.
-
They give me a shirt. I give them my money.

It's this "They'll get my money anyway" bit I don't understand. Do you feel you have to give it to them?
Nope. I just need a new shirt and I'm happy to buy one if I like the design.
My mrs bought me a Villa tshirt for Xmas but I didnt like it so we took it back to the Villa shop and got a refund. I dont buy things if I dont like them and I cant afford to just throw away my money. As I said above, everyone has a choice, and if I want to buy a shirt for whatever reason (playing football or leisure) and I like the design, then I will buy it if I can afford to.
The only part that I may "feel you have to give it to them" is when it comes to buying the shirt itself from a sports shop or direct from the Villa...I'd buy it from the Villa every time even if it cost a few quid more.
-

That's what I don't understand. Why would you rather hand over more money? Do the Viila really need your extra £5?

Admiral made some classic kits. The England one of the late 70s early 80s was great.

Its not just the extra £5 though is it. I may be wrong, but I've always believed that if you buy from a high street sports shop then the club doesnt benefit from the purchase (hence one of the reasons why Villa shirts arent stocked everywhere in the country), where as if I buy from the club then a fair percentage of the money goes direct to Villa rather than profit for the high street sports shop. Like I said, I may be completely wrong but buying Villa merch direct from Villa makes the purchases feel more "safe". The club obviously dont need my £5, but the real effect would be felt if they lost say 100,000 £5s. Like I say, I could be completely and utterly wrong.

Fine. Keep handing your spare cash over to a load of multi-millionaires; I'm sure they appreciate it.
-
Or he can go to JJB and hand it to the likes of Dave Whelan*
*Yes, I know he has stepped down and they only sell Sky 4 anyway, but you get my point.
If you want a top, then buying from the Villa is the better option.

This is exactly why football clubs are so different from any other business.
If you wanted a tin of Heinz Beans and Asda were selling them 10p cheaper, would you go to Tesco because you support them and would rather pay more if it meant Tesco getting your money?
I can't think of another business that, no matter how they treat their customers (and I am in NO way saying that Villa treat their customers badly by the way!), they keep coming back and shelling out more and more cash.
-

Do you think that it might be because people think of themselves as fans not customers? That they understand that commercial success is important to the club and that merchandising is an important aspect of that? So by spending money at the club shop they feel that are helping the team that they support?
-
I've got my last few shirts from Sports Direct. They were cheaper.
Credit Crunch and all that...
-
Well, fans naturally assume that the more money you spend at your club, the more money the club has to spend on players and such like. Why give it to Whelan or Ashley just to save a couple of quid when you can give it to Villa? Maybe thats how they see it? Right or wrong.
-

I think that's exactly what it is. Which is precisely why clubs exploit fans' loyalty and treat them as a cash cow to be milked shamelessly. New kit every single season? Why is that necessary?
And, like Dave, I'm not suggesting Villa are any more culpable in this than anyone else.
-

I would if Tesco making more money than anyone else was something I took great pride in, and meant I got to enjoy my weekend that much more.
-
I'd do all my weekly shopping from the Villa shop if I could. I'd rather profits from my purchases go to the club I support than any other business.
As discussed in the merch thread I made, sports shops stock items to sell at profit, and that is why you see the Sky4 shirts more than Villa shirts. Why should I increase their profits when it could go to an institution I actually care about just to save a couple of quid (which I'd probably spend on petrol getting to that shop in the first place?)
-
I think there was a point in the last 20 odd years at which the balance between us being "fans" and us being "customers" tipped towards the latter.
I'm not pointing the finger of blame at one body / organisation / group of people in particular, but I suspect it was a combination of:
Clubs seeing fan loyalty as something to be exploited financially as much as possibly.
Ticket prices going through the roof - which is a reflection of the above on the part of the clubs
Ticket prices also have the knock on effect that, when paying 40 odd quid for a ticket, the supporter is going to have a different mindset towards the club and different expectations for what he wants to see from his 90 mins of football every other week.
Television companies spending huge amounts for football rights, and as a result expecting (not surprisingly) to be calling the shots when it comes to fixture scheduling. How many times have we seen this issue raised on here? There's no doubt whatsoever that convenience of supporters is right at the bottom of that list.
We're no more guilty than any other club in the above (in fact, in many ways, we're less guilty), but if we're to be treated as "customers" rather than "fans", then that surely has to work both ways?
If we're going to change our shirt every year and charge 40 quid for it, then I'm surprised anyone would spurn a chance of buying it at the most convenient place (price / location) rather than from the club.
Incidentally, in the subjects covered above, the one thing I really wish had happened was that that huge influx of television money had gone towards (possibly through some PL legislation) subsidising / pegging ticket prices at reasonable levels rather than directly into the pockets of the players.
That would have been much more sensible. Too sensible.
-

Or send it to Acorns
-
I'd do all my weekly shopping from the Villa shop if I could
"What's for dinner, Dad?"
"Carling Cup Final commemorative chocolates, son"
-
Buying anything is an emotional decision that is why some people are drawn by loyalty to purchase at the club shop while some others will get their shirt or whatever from the cheapest outlet they can as the emotion for them is to have more cash to buy other stuff such as crusty beer at the Barton's when really they could go to a Weatherspoons and get the same thing cheaper.
Fortunately for all of us buying decisions are not always based purely on the price.
-
Do you think that it might be because people think of themselves as fans not customers? That they understand that commercial success is important to the club and that merchandising is an important aspect of that? Yes. Exactly.
Which is why I said that football is totally unlike any other business.
It commands customer (fan) loyalty like no other.
I'm not having a go at anyone who would rather pay more for the same goods, heck I did it for long enough!
-
Any news on the new shirt or sponsors then? ;)
-
I'd do all my weekly shopping from the Villa shop if I could

Looks like a Sunday league kit.
You wonder who to blame, them or the club who must have a massive say in the design etc.
Personally speaking, I like Puma kits these days.
-
Not sure what you mean Tim. Obviously whoever gave the ok for that is to blame.
Quite surprised they havent cashed in by having a yellow/green design tbh.
-
I get the vision of a load of football marketing people looking at this thread and smiling.
-
No doubt. In a few months they'll still be smiling knowing they made the right decisions with the new kits being accepted by the majority.
-
I'm not talking about the kits, I'm talking about the way they've got so many people willingly handing over every available penny to make a bunch of obscenely rich young men even richer. Oh yes, they make the right decisions alright.

David, when was the last time you bought a Villa shirt?
-
I consider myself to be a fairly loyal supporter but any replica shirts purchased are from Soccer world or Sports world, whatever it's called this week, saving approximately £10. More money to feed my habit.
We do have Villa mugs as well. Purchased from the Club shop in a sale.

I can see your point but is it really anyones business where others choose to spend their money?
I think the only piece of official mercahndise I've bought in the past couple of yaers is a scarf (from the New St shop for when I went to Blackburn in the cup as it was so bloody cold) so it's not an issue for me but if people prefer to buy kit from the club then that's up to them.
-

I'm struggling to see how you've come to this conclusion Dave.
Every available penny? Its just a case of do you want a shirt or not. In which case, who do you wish to purchase it from.
Buying from the club benefits the club, buying from Sports Soccer saves you a couple of quid. Your choice. Is there anything more in it than that? I can't see it.

I just struggle to understand why people feel obliged to spend more money than they have to on something. That they do so willingly is one of the most successful marketing exercises of all time.

I'm not talking about the kits, I'm talking about the way they've got so many people willingly handing over every available penny to make a bunch of obscenely rich young men even richer. Oh yes, they make the right decisions alright.
David, when was the last time you bought a Villa shirt?
About ten years ago. And your point is?

I'm struggling to see how you've come to this conclusion Dave.
Every available penny? Its just a case of do you want a shirt or not. In which case, who do you wish to purchase it from.
Buying from the club benefits the club, buying from Sports Soccer saves you a couple of quid. Your choice. Is there anything more in it than that? I can't see it.
I just struggle to understand why people feel obliged to spend more money than they have to on something. That they do so willingly is one of the most successful marketing exercises of all time.
Two reasons.
1- Spending money cheers some people up. It makes them feel wealthy and capable, even if they're not.
2- When it comes to football, sense usually goes out the window.

1) It doesn't cheer me up. Well, not spending my own anyway.
2) I agree with you there. Like I said about marketing....

Just a light hearted joke Dave. Lighten up man.

I don't do jokes.

Not sure what you mean Tim. Obviously whoever gave the ok for that is to blame.
Quite surprised they havent cashed in by having a yellow/green design tbh.
I guess the question is, who makes the decision ... the club or the manufacturer ?
Both have vested intetests in sales, but ( in our case) I would suggest that Nike not AVFC make the lions share ( no pun ) of the dosh.

Here's an interesting fact that should cheer you up Dave; liittle old Benfica's merchandising revenue last year was almost the same as our total revenue for the same period. Add to that they've now got over 200,000 members giving the club money every month for no other reason than to be a member. Fools.
-
Looking forward to the new kit & I'll get it from where ever is cheapest.

You fucking traitor!

I consider myself to be a fairly loyal supporter ...
I'd say you were a bit more than that Pauline!

Thanks SoTC but I'm still not paying over the odds for the shirt.

If this Arsenal one is real lets hope Nike adopt a similar idea for us -

Infact, can anyone do a mockup Villa one, claret and blue and white and claret on the away?

Those are both beautiful, particularly the home.

I wouldn't mind going back to a yellow away kit. I still remember Paul Birch in his yellow Mita top, or that one we wore at Anfield and was never seen again.

Agree.
It's using the yellow from our lion too.
The Gen says that we're having 'tradional' kits next season, so I guess we're going white away again though.

we have had traditional home kits all the time Randy has been here and the away ones have been good except the blue job.
of course always a few want fancy ones, but Randy has always done us right.

Simple design. Perfect.
...just need to get rid of that awful badge design!
edit:
the spurs kit posted in here has been confirmed btw

Think they're celebrating a significant no of years of football at the Arse next year so using an old badge ?
-
Think they're celebrating a significant no of years of football at the Arse next year so using an old badge ?
Next season they're celebrating 124 years since Dial Square FC was founded. They got rid of the old gun because anyone could use it on a shirt. The new badge has the all important trademark on it.
-
Hope its a simple design...i like white away with some claret/blue on it. Liked the aways of 32 Red with blue pin stripe, this seasons and 99/00 with diagonal claret/blue stripe on them.
Just hope the design isn't as figure hugging as portrayed on the recent pics on here !!

The bloke on that Arsenal forum who said he'd seen all the new Nike kits (and proved right re their new kit and the Man U one), described ours as being the same template as the new Holland kit and "having a row of checks down from the armpit" both home and away.
I saw the Dutch kit today in a shop today, and it does indeed have row of checks, but it is very thin and they're barely noticeable.

That Arsenal away shirt is pissing gorgeous.
We should do a yellow & blue away again, like the one from the Tommy Docherty era.
-
Our away kit this season could be our 3rd kit next season like it has been the last couple of years.
A yellow or black away kit would be nice.
-

Why 124 years and not 125? Did we have any special kit releases for the 24th aniversary of the European Cup win? Should distract the gooners for another trophyless season I suppose, poor lambs.
-
Could the retro-Arsenal kit be anything to do with next year marking 40 years since they won the double (in the days when it meant something)?

I`d have that, with maybe Clarrie Blue in place of the lion rampant.

Yeah, and proper advertising hoardings,Ansells Bittermen-you can`t beat`em...though the advent of brewery sell-offs to the megaslop piss-poor Burton Allied breweries did.

Oh that'll be my handy work. I used other Nike tops as a blue print. So the away was based on PSG's away kit but done with Claret and Blue as opposed to Red and blue. The 3rd is blatantly the US away tweaked. I've been meaning to do one based on what I feel is the most amazing of kits which is the Barcelona keepers top. It is jaw droppingly class.
I was only pissing about, if anyone wants the templates I used in either illsutrator or a PSD file feel free to PM me!
-
Thought I'd do a mock up using the Dutch top and one of the names baing bandied about as a sponsor...
-
Not bad at all that Stewie, although I think the checks should be claret and blue, not two different shades of blue.
-
Its not going to be too flattering to our bigger boned players is it.
-
Can't even see the checks on Dutch kit so presume the 2 shades of blue would be correct?
-
The check strip on the Dutch kit is way, way thinner.
-
The dutch kit doesn't have a check stripe down it at all. The guy on Arsenal-Mania who described the kit said that the Villa top was based on the Dutch shirt (I think he meant in terms of collar and cut, but with checks under the arms down the shirt.

It does.
I saw it in the flesh on Saturday. Unless I was looking at an old one.

The new Dutch top is on Nike Stores website. You can zoom right in and it has a white dotted strip running down the front, but no checks.

my exact thought

I did the Claret collar as the alleged top behind the Manure top in the leaked pics has a claret collar.
-

With a blue collar and without the check down the side that would be the perfect modern day Villa kit. If that is indeed the Villa shirt behind the Man U one then it does appear to have a nice dark shade of claret which is a start.
As for the away kit please no yellow shirts and blue short combos. Don't like yellow kits and in my mind it will always be associated with losing 1-0 at Anfield in the 1992 FA Cup QF under Big Ron which I watched with my 5 Liverpool supporting housemates whilst at university. Probably the most disappointed I've been after a Villa game and with Portsmouth and Sunderland to follow would have been a great opportunity to win it. I would like claret shorts with a white shirt (possibly with thin claret stripes on it). Arsenal had something similar a couple of seasons ago.
-
I like this besides the collar. I would like to see it paired with blue shorts and have the checks continued down the side.
BLUE shorts? Burn the Heathen! Claret shirt, blue sleeves, white round-neck collar, white shorts, blue socks (with optional claret trim), no spots, halves and absolutely NO FUCKING STRIPES. That's what a PROPER Villa kit looks like. I suppose you'll be wanting them to tear down the A V floodlights next!

I may be one of the few that really likes us in all claret. No, it's not the old fashioned way, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
My mate, works for the Villa doing shirt printing & stuff, said an early prototype came through. All he bothered to tell us was the neck is the same as this year. Dunno if he's lying or not, mind.

A 'proper' Villa kit is claret and blue.
The style can differ as we have seen over the years.

I wouldn't trust that 'very' link for the availability date.
Its littlewoods catalogue isn't it ?
I reckon the official launch date provided by the Villa is the one to go by.....August no doubt.

Claret socks look dingy & slightly depressing. Makes us look like West Ham too. No thanks!

Too close to the start of the season for my liking. :(
Will our current white away kit now be the 3rd kit then as that is advertised as 2009-2011? If so, that obviously rules out a new white kit.

If true that would be bloody stupid. Need to leave a bigger gap to allow people to actually save up the money, especially during new season ticket / holiday season.
I would bring out the home kit at the end of May (on time for my birthday on 6th June for once) and the away kit in early September.
-
If true that would be bloody stupid. Need to leave a bigger gap to allow people to actually save up the money, especially during new season ticket / holiday season.
Well surely you knew last summer that the 09/10 season's kit would be changed again this summer, so that gives you 12 months to save up.
-
Save up? How does that work then?
-
Why can't the club tell us when they intend to release the new kits ?
Why do we have to go to a retailer's website to find out from them instead ?
Amazes me !
-
Anyone have any ideas when the new shirt will be unveiled?
I wish the players would wear it for last home game of the season like they used to!

Yellow and Black I think it'll be.

Hardly different to the one we've just had.

Wish we`d knob Nike off-they just can`t do claret let alone blue.Oh for a Villa Adidas kit.....sigh...
-
I think all the Nike ones have been good. Much better than the purple and blue stripes we used to play in.
-
Agreed, I think the Nike ones have been spot on.
-
In some ways whoever makes the strips isn't going to win with the fans.
Every year there's a clamour for a 'new' design and every year there's a plea to stay with the traditional strip.
There's not many ways to vary on a claret body with sky blue arms
-
Nike have been smart, simple designs.
Not worth the money IMO though.

Like them all! Don't usually like kits with collars.
I would like a yellow away kit.

I love that third kit!
-
They're all ace, but I have a feeling they will go 'retro' next season for the European Cup 30th anniversary. The third strip is superb and I would like us to adopt it... as an away kit. We don't really need a third kit do we?
-
They're all top notch. I'd buy the home and the third.
-
Those are the most BEAUTIFUL shirts I have ever seen (since the originals-which were the first shirts I was bought as a little kid). They need to be sent to nike/villa and demand they use them as future designs. BRILLIANT

They're ace. We should just have those kits, all the time.

Absolutely excellent - love them all. Always liked all white with C and B trim as our away kit...

Yeah, they're definitely my favourite Villa kits. Got the home one.
What about acorns in blue on the away? ;)

Could they be forwarded to the General? Guess its too late for next season but they are excellent.

is it true about the Twitter rumour?

that kit is quickly spreading

To be fair to Ian he did ask me if he could use the pics.
-
Could they be forwarded to the General? Guess its too late for next season but they are excellent.
Someone should definitely post them on his thread proffering them for the 2011/12 season.
-
absolute quality
I don't buy kits but that yellow one would definitely force me to prise open the wallet
-
Great.
The home kit is the business.
I do think that the away kit loses something that the original had. Obviously Nike wouldn't put a line of Umbro diamonds going down the sleeve, but perhaps some form of stripe to lift the white.
I've never liked the idea of the Villa playing in that yellow/blue combination. Too Arsenal-esque.
-
quite frankly, they are all top drawer. Love the yellow kit. I'd be all over that.
-
Now - those are proper Villa Shirts.
Personally I have always liked a proper collar as opposed to a T shirt neck.
Yellow one takes me back to the third division days though....
-
spot on third division days yellow kit ,some of my greatest memories following the villa away & filling three quarters of the ground breaking attendance records where ever we played .
-
Man, I love those shirts.
I'd buy all 3.
As someone said, The general needs pointing at them for the season after next.
-
Those are the best Villa kits Ive seen in over a generation..
The collar on the away shirt is awesome..
-
somebody at the club needs to see those. Obviously too late now if those aren't like the actual designs but they should be a future consideration.
I don't recall seeing practically universal approval of designs before, and while we are a small sample, I'm struggling to think why someone might categorically object to any of those.
-
The are terrible, bloody awful. My five year old could have done better etc...

Awesome job. Like somebody else said, they wouldn't need to change the design ever again :)
-
Wow they are amazing!! I would probably buy all three. You are clearly in the wrong job!
-
I love them, though I would very much like to see the yellow one with a claret collar and trim instead of that dirty blue.
-

Black trim would be perfect.
-
come on guys, they look nice, but lets face it they are plain caret with blue sleeves / white / yellow shirts with a collar.
Nothing wrong with them at all, but hardly smoking him off over either?
-
Love the white away one, the blue on the yellow one reminds me of our dirty little neighbours, replace that blue with our blue maybe.
Otherwise good shout!
Does anyone know what our new sponsors logo is, that can often totally ruin the look of a replica kit.
-

Which is exactly the point.

I'd favour going back to black socks at home, a la 1950's - I think it looked ace

Socks should be claret or black. Never light blue or white.

No, they should be light blue. Always.

Never mind the merits of Keane, Reo-Coker etc. this is the serious area of debate. Hope this link works, look at the kits from 1956 -65, the claret socks give the look of a hard team, one that means business.
Compare to the next kits with white socks -these are just wussy as are the light blue socks of recent years.

I have never seen reference to that 1885-86 Red polka dot kit before.
-
Black socks is the future, folks. Have a look and marvel for yourself.
-

They've missed one out. 66/67 (I think) we wore light blue shorts at home - it was the season Liverpool and Chelsea stopped wearing white shorts and we seemed to follow suit. Colin Withers wore all green, which was also fairly revolutionary.
-
Those photoshop designs are now doing the rounds on facebook, with people thinking they're official, just so you guys know.
-
There's gonna be a lot of disappointed folk then.
-
I know, despite being informed that they are not. I am convinced some people simply cannot read or are unable to grasp the idea of someone doing a top mock up. God help them if they ever developed a sense of understanding.

you sir have indeed created a monster but just read the comments at the bottom I do hope the general has seen these and will take them to Nike and announce 'now these are our shirts for the next 10 years'
-
The original designer should have put his name on those kits.
-
I think we should go for a 1981 looking one, especially with the 30 year aniversary coming up.
-
The Diadora pink one was bloody awful.

Argentian team-Arsenal de Sarandi

Awful. Looks like a shite Rugby League shirt.

Just how bad is that !!!

That is awful.
I love sewiek's strips though.

I have the original PSD files all dated so can prove that I did them. I know copyright law. Though of course AVFC and NIKE could also sue my ass off for using their stuff withougt permission so it's a grey area.

Light blue shorts was 69/70.
Should never have been repeated, sadly it was.
-
Spoke to someone in the clubshop today and she said she didn't know where the release date of August 1st had come from as they weren't sure themselves.
-
Why are we so desperate to kick a gift horse in the testacles? New home shirt should be around at the end of the previous season. New away shirt should be around a month or so later, so people can afford both.
People want them for their summer / school holidays we are losing money by delaying.
Gerronwithit we're not the bloody Albion surely some sponsor must see the commercial appeal of a team that played at Wembley twice last season, qualifies for Europe regularly and plays in the most watched league in the World? If not, tell Acorns the've got the gig again and stop fannying around.
-
I must say we are slow with the shirts release every sodding season. It's not as if we weren't aware of the change - we are worse than the Blues when it comes to changing kits. Not good enough I'm afraid.
-
A Villa bra for Des, so he can burn it.

If it means we don't have a kit that looks like the new Everton away shirt, I don't mind waiting..
Can't wait to see Lescott in this (http://evertondirect.evertonfc.com/stores/everton/products/kit_selector.aspx?selectorid=266[/url)

spot on third division days yellow kit ,some of my greatest memories following the villa away & filling three quarters of the ground breaking attendance records where ever we played .
Does anyone remember the boos ringing round the ground when we first used it in a pre season friendly against the Italian U21's?? When the Villa walked onto the pitch everyone assumed it was the opposition!!

hmmm..black players at Everton. Never thought I'd see the day.
-
Kevin Campbell was the first one for years and years if I remember correctly.
-
I don't think Everton will have the same problems that United had against Southampton all those years back.
-

Yes, he joined in 1994, Barrett in 1995.
Before then I can't remember Everton having many black players.
-
Nothing to see.
-
Those check bits are pretty horrible.
-
Those checks look horrendous on a home shirt. The away shirt could be a belter with them though.
-
Black away kit would be nice. I like the 3rd kit we had years ago and never wore it.
-
It's not as good as a sewiek design, but I can live with something different. I would have liked the checks on the away kit instead, but I don't think it's that bad.
-
That badge still looks wrong. The checks are horrible too. Just leave the bloody thing as Claret body, blue sleeves and no cheap gimmicks.
-

I've told you a billion times to stop exaggerating.
If that's the kit, and we really don't know that it is so it's a bit early for the hand wringing, then it will do. Not perfect from my perspective but grumpy middle aged blokes aren't the ones who are going to buy it in their thousands so it has to appeal to those that will.
-
It looks a tight fitting number, so I ask myself if those who find it grotesque may themselves be on the Bella Emberg side of cuddly?
-
Not perfect from my perspective but grumpy middle aged blokes aren't the ones who are going to buy it in their thousands so it has to appeal to those that will.
Exactly right.
I still don't bloody like it though. Moan, Moan, whinge, grumble, back when I was a lad etc.
-
It's alright. Could be worse. It's claret and blue and the team play in so it's fine by me.
-
I think it's nice, it'll look better than that anyway, have you seen the new Dutch shirt? That has small checks down the side and it looks class.
Really looking forward to the black shirt too, I loved the one with NTL on the front a few years ago and the one in the first Nike season we had but never wore was class too.
-
We've had a new home kit every season since the 97/98 season. Even Man United aren't that bad.
Don't buy it then...

We're all forgetting something... if that's what our boys will be dawning next season, the chequered bits, etc. are nowhere near as bad as the 'TATA' logo????? As far as sponsors go, i'd be embarrassed to have that shit on our kit!

He's got a very good point though. We have changed our kit every season since then, and it's all well and good saying "Don't buy it". But what about people with kids who want the new kit every year?
The shirts are overpriced enough as it is, without having to fork out every 12 months for a new one.
-
Fair argument...
Can people not say 'no' to their kids anymore?
People should try it now & then - social standards may improve slightly.

What the hell is the horrible TATA thing on the front of it? Fake, anyway.
-
What the hell is the horrible TATA thing on the front of it? Fake, anyway.
Tata would be possibly the worst sponsor in the world. Surely a nose come up with this mock-up...
Tata are that shit indian car company that were responsible for the city rover! Sack of shit! Might as well get the GeeWiz to be our sponsor.
-
The poster said it would be a forex trading company, anyway, which sounds equally as strange.

Tata are actually one of the largest group of companies in the world. They are worth approximately $70 billion. We can only dream of having a sponsor of their size as if they wanted to get into football they would have much, much bigger fish to fry than us. I think they currently sponsor Ferrari and were linked with Man Utd last year.

Jod, you beat me to it. TATA would be an incredible sponsor, and I agree we would be very fortunate to get anything like them. They are a massive group of companies, and it would give us some great profile in the Indian market. Kryten, I would suggest you do a little research before putting your thoughts into print.

Not to mention one of the region's biggest employers as owners of Jaguar and Land Rover.

The only issue with Tata as a sponsor would be if they started swinging the axe at Jaguar.
That'd be politically iffy.

MG Rover were responsible for buying a shit car and flogging it on for a £2K profit. Tata are one of the fastest growing companies in the world. And they own Jaguar.

Tom Parker mentioned it on page 27.
Its a rumour that is gathering pace.
-
If it is TATA then could be interesting when they close Castle Brom or Solihull...
-
I would suggest that FXPro are a Foriegn Exchange trading software company in the same sort of stable as Fap Turbo and others. Huge business in the USA and becoming more known in the UK it is a method of trading on foreign and Sterling currency exchanges with the hope (though the companies involved would say expectation) that gains made outstrip the losses. All done fully automated, after initial setting up ,users have the potential of earning a bit of extra bunce after a start up investment. Some professional traders call it' dime collecting in front of a steam roller' and there is an a level of risk that users should be aware of.
Please note that the above does not serve to be taken as any financial advice or recommendation and is meant for educational, informative purposes only.

Anyone know when the new kit and sponsor are due to be revealed?
We always seem to be last in the list of Nike kit teams to get our kit released.

I'm pretty sure it's being release on Saturday (12th June)

Wait till the World Cup's started to release the new kit. Great planning, that'll get loads of press.

The new kit unveiled this Saturday?
That seems way to early, theres been no build up on the OS or anything as of yet has there?

I only know one other man who finds foreign currency a strange phenomenon...
Looks like we've sussed you Martin ;)

Wonder who is holding up the shirt?
Some 1980s Wall Street type, going by those horrible shirt cuffs.
-
That'll look OK on the home shirt I reckon in white.
Looks shite on the old away/third though.
-
Incidentally, that looks photoshopped to me.
-
Different stripes on each side? That's hideous!
-
Different stripes on each side? That's hideous!
Well, it has been our kit for the past 12 months (apart from the sponsor)
-
Don't expect a new kit for another few weeks.
-
Wonder how much FxPro are paying, not sure the tagline under their name on the shirt is needed, mind.
-
Different stripes on each side? That's hideous!

You know what? I'd never even noticed that!
-
That's this years 3rd kit and as PTV said, last years away kit.
-
Why, regardless of the manufacturer, do we always seem to wait until right at the start of the season before releasing our new kit?
I was up in Scouseland last week and lost count of the number of kids in the new Liverpool kit.
Given that they change every year now the shelf life of the kit probably doesn't last much past Christmas, so the months of June and July, pre-season and with optimism building, are surely the best time to shift units?
Or am I missing something?
-
Incidentally, that looks photoshopped to me.
It looks it to me too, Paulie.
-
It's genuine and the man holding the shirt is Alan B'stard.
-
I wonder what the white board said that needed blacking out?

Definitely.

From Ian Robathan's blog?
I think I'll take this with a bucket or two of salt.
-
The motto is hideous. I really hope it's a fake & we have more class.
-
I'm looking forward to seeing the new black kit- the last black one was one of my favourite away shirts.
-
I hope it is photoshopped because it looks a pile of old doo-doo to me.
-
It's a sponsor that is not even confirmed on last seasons away kit.
I'm reading nothing into it.
-
If we have done a deal with this company and they are to be the new sponsors, I would suspect that the shirt we have seen is a mock up, rushed through to show what 'it could look like'.
Remember, up until 2 weeks ago we were still no nearer finding a sponsor so I would hazard a guess that this is a rush job to present in meetings between Villa and a potential new investor.
-
Forex? we being sponsored by an Aussie lager now?
-

-
Ive performed some rudimentary analysis on the pic and its either genuine or a very good fake. My money would be on the former at this point.
I couldn't give a forex though either way. As long as they pony up large amounts of cash for the honour and pay for our new overpaid show-pony fanny-dancing treacherous moron.
-
The motto is hideous. I really hope it's a fake & we have more class.
I'm sure there are people on here who are more qualified to talk about this then me, but am I right in thinking that you can't have tag lines on Premier League shirts.
Obviously, there's a difference between sponsorship and advertising. Am I right in thinking that having the tagline therefore makes it an advert?
A quick trip down memory lane can't reveal any other team using a tagline...

I can recall Crystal Palace having 'Fly Virgin to LA', which looked a million times better than this shoddy effort. It's fake.

It might be fake but I think what is being photographed is real rather than manipulated.

The logo and the slogan will be two different marks.
Incidentally, I've never been able to find our current badge on the register, so I assume its not a TM.
-
i wouldnt call it a very good fake, i would call it a bad one.
The logo is straight but the badge is wonky
-
Confirmed on OS now.
FxPro - could it be a subtle hint to MON from Lerner to start thinking about buying players from European and South American markets?!
-
Great that we seem to have secured a good deal, but even better, we have continued our links with ACORNS as our official charity. Indeed the OS talks about ACORNS and FXPro already working with each other
-
Bye Bye Acrorns.
Was nice what we did but we couldn't keep it going forever.
Don't blame the club, it's business time for Randy.

I'm delighted the link with Acorns will continue but I think this logo will kill shirt sales. One of the reasons for buying the shirt with Acorns on it was pride in displaying it, as it was to a smaller extent perhaps with Rover but certainly not with DWS. I feel FxPro will become just as much a joke.
-
I thought the reason most people brought the shirt was because it had AVFC written on it?
-

Exactly.
Aslong as the shirt sponsor isn't something really shit then theres no worries.
My friend didn't buy the 32RED shirt as he was a Muslim.
There you go.
-
I can't help thinking "Forex" sounds like its a contraceptive.
Am I the only one?
-
I thought the reason most people brought the shirt was because it had AVFC written on it?
While that's true, I did buy the home shirt 2 years because it had Acorns on despite it otherwise being almost identical to the previous few years. I don't think I'm going to bother buying this years (unless there is some drastic change done to the home shirt which judging by the last few years doesn't seem likely)

A 4-year old, Cypriot registered foreign exchange company.
We're bursting with luca!
-
so how much exactly have we prostituted ourselves for?
What's the deal?
-
So..new shirt release on July 15th.
No doubt to go onsale after the bloody holidays !!
-
Should fill the warchest for transfer swoops and raids.
As long as they are aren't Satanic Talibank of Waziristan, the Nazi Paedophile Investment Corporation or KFC, I couldn't really give a toss.
It means we've had a firm meet us on our demands for a major sponsorship deal which is very good news for the club. Maybe we can do some heavy duty business this summer after all.
-

That offered us more money than anyone else, and/or offered us close to what we wanted while retaining links with Acorns. I'm sure the two agendas weren't mutually exclusive.
I really don't care to be honest. I may buy the top or may not. Best thing is to go retro. Never gets old.
-
Can't say I'm enamoured of the little spiel after the company name but who knows if that's going to be on the shirt? I'll still end up buying it.
-
It's official - FXPro:

-
New boy here. Although i've been going to Villa Park since 1989.
The Sports Direct website has the home shirt on sale from 31/07/10 and the away shirt on sale 12/08/10.
Can't do links, but I would suggest that as they probably sell more shirts than anyone else, they ought to be ITK!
-
Who gives a toss what sponsor we have. As long as they pay market value. I am more bothered who wears the shirt at right back/centre half!
-
Forex? Are they one of them lot wot left us all fearing our jobs and bought the economy to its knees? Or at least profited from it anyway.
Either that or a hybrid between Durex and the Femidom.
-
The new shirt for next season will be unveiled on July 15 in Birmingham.
Great.
