General

I know it's just a media report, and I know we want to keep him, but regarding the Milner reports, and football transfers in general, do you think it is feasible to build something long term in football these days?

We saw, last year, that Man City in their capacity of recent lottery winners unsettled Joleon Lescott and created enough noise over the summer to finally get him.

It seems very unfair that a club can try to build something yet find itself at the prey of wealthier clubs. It would be bad enough were it just successful wealthy clubs like Man United, but for it to be Man City is hard to swallow.

Is there hope for football as a sustainable, competitive industry without reform to the transfer system?

has it not always been so. Perhaps to lesser degrees. We now play in the top league in the world many reckon, and we are 6th in it but its not new for us to sell players, Hitchens, Hately, Cowans, Platt, and Barry for instance.

Randy does not give the feeling he wants to rush us into that and unless he finds a manager who can buy cheap win top 4 regularly and win European Cups who can blame him. Such managers are rare, in any age, especially those who keep doing it.

General: Like most fans I enjoyed the season and my young son loved the two trips to Wembley. As a club we almost achieved great heights at all levels. The future still remains bright, however I am somewhat peeved at the new speculation over the future of our "brightest star". I renewed our season tickets prior to the Blackburn game with the hope that next season we can build around James Milner and step up to the plate once again and attain the next level. To me selling our best player would be a backward step in the extreme and I for one would feel that I had bought my season tickets prematurely. Should we be in the position of having to sell Milner and others may I be entitled to a refund before the season starts.? I have faith in Mr Lerner to run the club in a fit and proper way, however I would feel cheated if I paid to see a top line act at a concert and someone like Cliff Richard showed up !!

Whilst I understand your thinking, and I understand your disapointment should he go you pay to watch Aston Villa surely? No one man (As good as he is) is ever bigger than Aston Villa. For all we know James Milner may want to finish his career at Aston  Villa

Yes I do go to watch the Villa and have done for nearly 48 years - I have seen many false dawns, but just as I see us building a decent team capable of competing for trophies there is again talk of us losing our star player. Please don`t doubt my loyalty JM`s no8, I am time served in terms of following this great club during thick and thin..
Maybe I am just tired of being taken for granted .

General, you all right? Good.

When we sell Milner and Ash can you just make sure we get someone in who likes taking pens?

Cheers

Hi General,

This is my first post on your thread.

I just wanted to thank you, Mr Lerner, MON and the team for an enjoyable season.

I live in London but come to matches with my Dad and brothers who are all season ticket holders. I've loved this season and have a season ticket for next season and am very excited about us progressing.

Thanks,

villa-love

Andrew08 my message was to the General, I don't agree with you. You consider selling if you can replace with better - we can't.

My message was to the General as well.
I think the debate is happening on another thread.
