General, it has become practice in recent home games for the chap announcing the half time scores to come over all unnecessary when delivering the news that Birmingham City are losing. I don't think I'm alone in believing that an Aston Villa employee should behave with a little more decorum and leave the petty, vulgar triumphalism to Birmingham City (and I have been in attendance when their stadium announcer has indulged in petty, vulgar triumphalism at our expense) as was the case last Wednesday when a mid table side losing was cause for greater joy than a team we still entertain hopes of overtaking being beaten. Is there any way he could tone it down?

I've thought that too Joe

But nothing will ever be more embarassing than Jack Woodward's (apologies if it wasnt him) team introductions at the Carling Cup Final

The Man Utd players were read out like "Wayne Rooney" to be followed by "and for Aston Villa, the wing wizard ASHLEY YOUNG!" you really wanted to twat him

Hi General,

I'm a little bit surprised that the club are charging £3 to get into the F.A Youth Cup Semi Final against Newcastle. I know £3 is'nt much, but it if was free to ST ticket holders for example (which it should be really), it might encourage a few to get down there and get behind the future of the club.

General Krulak here:

1.  AsTallAsLions:  You pose a difficult question because I am not sure I agree with the overall premise.  I am not as down on the "quality of football" as you seem to be.  I have seen us play some very nice football...and have been proud to observe it.  7-1 is never going to please anyone but our opponents.  "inept use of funds"...again, not sure I agree with that statement as an overarching view.

2.   joe_c:  I do not think it is right nor professional for us to broadcast scores in a manner that disrespects other teams.  I never like to give material to our opponents to fire them up.

General, a non-footballing question; how are you and is there any chance you'll be over for the semi-final?

General, I don't expect a response to this - although would of course be grateful, but I really do hope it has been noticed by the board and the management that many, many people have been predicting that a downturn in form would follow towards the end of the season; that this would be largely down to tiredness and players frequently playing when not fit; that the often frenetic pace and lack of substitutions are important factors; and most worryingly that this keeps on happening. This is the third year in a row that we've been to a top club in March and been thrashed out of sight. It really isn't a coincidence, and at the time of year when the cream rises to the top, it very much looks like we're sinking down.

Second main point: irrespective of stats, the thing that you notice when you watch us and other top teams play, is that the thing that most obviously marks us out as different, is the relatively poor quality of our passing and movement on a large number of occasions. Whilst we continue to pay relatively high prices for UK-based players, it's hard to envisage that this will change (and thus this seems a suitable comment for this thread - ie. it is rather costly!)

does anyone seriously expect the General to offer anything but full backing to team and manager?
He cannot go agreeing or passing negative comments or real opinions even if he wanted to, he has to be careful. Look what happened after his excellent pigs in shit comment.
I'm sure he and Randy are confiedent everything is rosy, but on the slim chance they did not, how could they say so on an open forum read by every media reprobate there is.

Hence the very first line in my post being that I didn't expect him to respond, but that he would note my views.

General, a while ago I and many other Villa fans who follow the official Aston Villa twitter feed received a tweet from the club listing the three or four players who are on Twitter, presumably so we could follow them.   While the player tweets don't set the world on fire in terms of literary brilliance or incredible insight or controversial opinion (very few twitterers do), they are nice to follow, make the players seem a bit more human and less remote and help fan followers feel more closely connected to the team.   I was hoping that more players would be encouraged to start using Twitter in this way.

So I was quite surprised to see that at some point over the weekend, James Collins's twitter account (jamescollins29) was deleted.   Can you please tell us if this was anything to do with his apology to fans via Twitter following our defeat at Chelsea?   Can you also please confirm whether his twitter deletion was requested or ordered by anyone at the club, and if so, what the thinking was behind this?

Maybe be it would be easier for you to develop some source evaluation skills? So when you get information that comes from The Mirror or Talkshite- you know to ignore it.

I think your right, I think we should be told what is going on. Obviously I don't expect randy to say "don't worry lads we have £50m to spend in the summer" but all these rumours Martin quitting and Milner being sold to Man U, and our chairman wating players to be sold are very unsettling.
