If the board had thought it important to make signings then they'd have allowed Kevin to do it. Incidentally did you see MacDonald's interview where he said how O'Neill had called him before the West Ham game to talk about the scouting report he'd done on them. Strange way for a vindictive man to behave.

In the first interview Kevin said he called Martin and Martin gladly gave him the report over the phone.

Either way, he's gone and that's the most important thing as far as he's concerned. Time to move on.

It was on Sunday:

Asked how much O’Neill’s exit had damaged the club, MacDonald replied: “When you say ‘damage’, we have won one and lost one.

“It probably hasn’t helped the football club, but the players have to help themselves.

“When we played West Ham he had done a scouting report the previous week and he phoned me up. So if you are saying he left the club in the lurch he was still showing the club he has got heart then.

“Whether it was trying to help me out or trying to show the club that – I think it was probably a bit of both.

“He could have quite easily walked away and not bothered phoning. That’s why I find it difficult for people to say that.”

I find it difficult to believe that MON bothered with scouting reports. It's not as if he changed tactics to suit the opposition.

Even if he did share this information (which would have been compiled while being paid by the Club and therefore belonged to them), it's only a tiny amount of redemption compared to his vindictive sabotage.

 I think Spurs are still missing a centre half or two and that is ultimately why I don’t see them finishing top four this term. As I say, an attack minded midfielder like VDV is a position they appear to be quite strong in.

Good to see that, once again, Spurs have more time than everyone else to get their paperwork concluded.  In most other walks of life a deadline is exactly that.

Van Der Vaart will be a cracking signing for them though. Milner for 26 or Van Der Vaart for 8. Harry is very, very good in the market.

He reckons he was going to Bayern for £18m yesterday but when that fell through he got a deal for £8m.
