In an ideal world we need cover at centre back, centre mid and centre forward. Won't happen today. Won't happen in Jan. But I agree with others on thread that say with a good manager we've got a squad to compete.

We won't sign anyone tommorrow.

Not too fussed as it's a decent squad that even in the turmoil and injuries to a few key players has
won two of the opening three games. The only area I think we're vulnerable if we get an injury or
two is central midfield.

True - but that is because three of our five central midfielders are injured. When Ireland, Sidwell and Delph are back we'll have our full complement.

Not saying that Reo-Coker or Petrov getting injured WOULDN'T be a bad thing, but we do have five usable central midfielders on the books at the moment.

Are Osbourne and Salifou still knocking around at Villa Park?

This is not just an anti-Blues think, but is he still a great player?  I don't follow Spanish football all that closely, but if he was the player he used to be at Arsenal, would Barcelona be letting him go for as little as £5m?  And would he not have better offers than a (at best) midtable PL side?

I would imagine there are certain players that were in the get rid bracket by the end of last season as part of the reducing the wage bill exercise.  These are all peripheral players who MON, the board and the fans are well aware off. 

Even though we don't have a Manager we need to stick to this strategy to make additional funds available to allow better talent to come in once we have the new man in place.
