btw, what do people on heroes and villans think of kalinic and rodallega? i really rate both players, both strong, young and good finishers and if we can't sign huntelaar or someone of his calibre i think we should make a late attempt to sign either one.
I've not seen enough of Rodallega to comment but been really impressed with Kalinic every time I've seen him and thought since the end of the last winter transfer window that he would have made an interesting signing. Maybe Big Sam will bring him with us once he's installed as the new manager.

We should have tried to get Ben Arfa on loan.

If the board did do something in the transfer market, such as buying Huntelaar on loan, without having a permamnent manager in place, how would people react. Would you see it as the board intefering, or would you praise them for being pro-active?

Pro-active. A loan signing is a no-lose situation really.

That said I don't think we need anyone. I'd save the money, give the new manager the season and next Summer he'll have a pot of money and Davies, NRC, Carew and Friedel could all leave on frees if he wanted to free up even more funds.

At least we can relax now till January - I've always hated the last day of the window and spending all day on tenderhooks, shame no new signings but could be a lively new years window.

Should be different for us in jan though as it will be the new mans 1st chance to deal and he will have about 20 games to assess his squad- at least the days of transfer frustration should be over next summer - no more waiting till late august !

Albion linked with sidwell for £3m - take the cash and get rid!

I would say the Friedel - Guzan - Young - Cuellar - Milner window was his best.

If you ignore the fact that Shorey and Sidwell were signed in that window as well.

Agreed, but I'd put guzan in the shorey , sidwell bracket-friedal, young , cuellar and milner were all good signings though no doubt!

I would offer £10m for Coleman now.

Still hope we go for Flamini on loan.

January is still a difficult time to buy. The only way to improve on what we've got is to get people of a high enough quality that they will probably be in their club's first team and at that stage everyone is fighting for something. You end up either paying stupid money or getting someone who has been frozen out at their club - in which case, half a dozen others are after them too.

Unless we're lucky we probably have to work with what we've got until next summer.

If Spurs were serious which I doubt,  I would expect £16m + Keane. Keane is not a swap deal for Young. No fucking way

I would still expect him to be a Villa player come 6pm tomorrow

I disagree.
The best one was the one he fucked off out of.
