Sky sources saying spurs are after Ashley young and poised to make their move - nothing would surprise me anymore and if ash says he wants to go I wouldn't be shocked.

If we did let him go I'd imagine it would involve player swaps as we wouldn't have time to line other signings up- it depends how ash feels I guess as I can't see randy selling unless ash asks to go.

If Ashley Young is sold we should all fuckin riot.

Spurs don't need Ashley Young. They have Modric, Bale, Kranjcar, Lennon & Bentley who can all play on the wings. I'd certainly be looking to get one of them off Spurs if they really want Ashley.

If they'd send Modric and Bale in exchange; that would be worth thinking about !!

Bale is a better player than Young on his own so that is very unlikely

Certainly if he keeps up his current/end of last season form, he won't be at Spurs for long as the big fish will come a hunting

It would be astonishing if Ashley Young was allowed to go so close to the end of the transfer window. However, only Villa could create the conditions by which Tottenham might feel they have a chance of getting him and Ash might feel so fucked off that he needs to go. That Rapid result was totally Villa created, signed, sealed and delivered and seems to sum up what we are right now. Panicked, leaderless, drifting.

I wouldn't be remotely shocked if Ash decides that this club are going downhill fast and it's time to get out before it crashes. However, if he's sold then we should burn Villa Park down....

If Young is sold, it should suit what Villa want and not what Tottenham want. They pay £40mill or piss off.  Swaps with Bentley, Keane, Jenas etc are no good for the club in terms of keeping our salary levels down. Besides, they're not good enough for them, why would they be good enough for us.  I accept that we've dropped a little in the last week or so, but not to the level where we are taking charity.

Dear Mr.Droopy,

Most recently we had the misfortune to lose one of our most influential players in James Milner. The up-side is that we got to see how far over Man City would bend and, as the world has seen, they are most willing to grab ankle. Are you willing to grab your ankles, Mr.Droopy? Actually, stick a pin in that for a moment as, having lost the abovementioned player, Aston Villa certain can't afford to lose another so allow me to rephrase the question:

Are you willing to get your chairman to bend over so far as to ruin Tottingham financially forever more? For that, I think most of our fans would be willing to let Ashley Young go. Come now, don't be coy....you've done it before, have you not? The trail of destruction behind you would indicate that you have quite the penchant for getting your chairman to test their flexibility.

Have a think on it and get in touch with a number that you think might humour me.

Regards,

R.Lerner.

The key to all this depends on Ashley young - there's no way he can go unless he demands to leave - in that case we would have to see they offer us , we will nit hold onto our better players if we keep seeking our crown jewels.

Randy really needs to let the fans know what the situation is financially as to what the ambitions and expectations are.

Without huge investmest we cannot compete this season and I know randy is not a man to court publicity but in his position he needs to communicate more with fans , without fans there is no club.

Well there's an interview with Ash in the Sun today in which he talks positively and says he can achieve a lot with Villa. I wonder how many quotes the Mirror article has.

I remember milner saying the same thing when he made his England debut last year- footballers these days in the main are mercenaries and I'm sure the lure of champions league football in London would interest him.

Having seen many top players leave over the last 30 yrs the club would survive this if he did go and who knows albrighton could be in the same bracket as him in a couple of years.

Then who replaces Albrighton when he goes?

I hope that the club do not share your attitude.

Link?

And does anyone remember the OS interview a few weeks back where he said he owes us, does anyone have a link to that?

Players come and players go chris, we are fortunate we have players coming through from a very good youth academy , but that's the nature of the game.

The top 4 will continue to attract the top players because the champions league is the holy Grail- we somehow have to break into that elite group but in all honesty the only way to do that is huge investment , randy has given it a real go and we got close to it, but it's very much a catch 22 situation.

The game now is all about the rich getting richer and wages are obscene- what a great shame it's come to this in our national sport.
