I see N'Zogbia has turned down Blues.

Has he? He aint worth 9.5m but as two noses at work this afternoon told me it was a done deal and did so in a 'we buy players and you dont' way. That has made me smile.

Stuart James in the Guardian seems to have been fed some lines by Ashley Young's manager.
Quote
Tottenham Hotspur  are stepping up their pursuit of Ashley Young and considering tabling a formal offer for the England international as they seek to capitalise on the growing uncertainty at Aston Villa.

Young has been on Harry Redknapp's radar for some time and Spurs hope their progress into the Champions League group stage and Villa's elimination from the Europa League will help to convince the winger he would be better off at White Hart Lane.

Randy Lerner, the Villa chairman, is, however, determined to keep Young after already losing James Milner to Manchester City and will strongly resist any approach.

Young has entered into contract talks with Villa over an extended and improved four-year deal but the club's proposal has been rejected. Discussions are expected to resume once the transfer window closes but Young is keen for his future to be resolved before then.

Tottenham are unlikely to be able to offer Young a substantial wage increase – he is earning £65,000 a week at Villa Park – but the club appear to be moving in a different direction to Villa on the field. Young has been concerned at Villa's poor start and the lack of progress over a new manager. He cut a frustrated figure at times against Newcastle United on Sunday and again against Rapid Vienna last night.

Whether that would be enough to convince him to push for a move if Tottenham's interest resulted in an offer remains to be seen.

Villa are expected to stand firm between now and the end of the transfer window, with Lerner aware he would be risking a backlash from the supporters if he cashed in on another leading player at a time when the club are going through a difficult spell.

Robben plays on the left for Bayern (as he did for Chelsea and Madrid) with Ribery on the right.

no they dont. Ribery is always on the left and Robben is always on the right cutting in and scoring!

I don’t see any movement in or out of Villa Park transfer wise this summer and especially not Young, while we have no manager and no time to replace him.

He and Ribery tend to swap.

But if you won't accept Robben as a better left-winger (a winger who is left-footed) then you can have Ribery who is a better left-winger than Bale. Happier?

You can tell we're not going to sign any one, or that there is no links, people are too busy arguing about which wings the Bayern players play on and if Bale is world class or not.

It's pretty obvious to me that AVFC is closed for business.

Sky sources saying spurs are after Ashley young and poised to make their move - nothing would surprise me anymore and if ash says he wants to go I wouldn't be shocked.

If we did let him go I'd imagine it would involve player swaps as we wouldn't have time to line other signings up- it depends how ash feels I guess as I can't see randy selling unless ash asks to go.

Spurs don't need Ashley Young. They have Modric, Bale, Kranjcar, Lennon & Bentley who can all play on the wings. I'd certainly be looking to get one of them off Spurs if they really want Ashley.

Lennon and keane?or bentley and keane? No doubt spurs would like ash , as redknapps already said he likes him but doubted
mon would sell him, now mons gone maybe ash would fancy going to London- sky saying he couldn't play until champions league knockout stages though if they got there.

I can't see the board sanctioning Young leaving now, even if he does pull a face about it. Sky are getting a bit ahead of themselves as per usual.

Yes, i too would love this to happen.

On the Young situation, if he decides he's going there isn't much we can do. Thats modern football for you. If it happens, if we can get Keane, Bentley and say £8-£10m, i wouldn't be too upset. (As long as that money + the Milner money is given to a new manager to bring any players in he fancies).

If they'd send Modric and Bale in exchange; that would be worth thinking about !!
