Another midfielder, and sharpish. Petrov and Ireland have talent and creativity and do try hard, but they need someone else in there to liberate them. NRC will do for now, but I'd like to see a more rounded player signed to play that 4-3-3.

My God, how many years have I asked for this.

B) Randy made it crystal clear that until some of the "squad players" were moved on he wasnt spending any more money
and as that has not happened end of story

Did he?

When was that, then? Must have missed it.

Based on Warnocks last couple of performances, can we have Nicky Shorey back? ;)

Maybe we can help out that other crisis club (I take it we're back in that category now?) Wigan and take Diame and Rodallega off their hands.

Good players in an otherwise poor side.

Price might be a lot lower now than it was at the height of summer with all the shite going on there.

We should go and find our own Diame and Rodagella for half the price it'd cost to get them from Wigan. Let aloen the wage rise they command.

I suggested Scott Parker yesterday... I think today just showed how much we need a player like him. If we don't sign a Scott Parker/Flamini/Diarra type player things are going to be a lot harder than they actually need to be this season.

Agreed. Flamini is the man for me. Get him in on loan for the season or simply buy him for the 5m they want. Sit him in behind Ireland and Petrov, giving us Sidwell and Reo Coker back up for them. Then play Albrighton right and Ashley left, Gabby up top and feck Downing off to the highest bidder. No coincidence that Warnock was a super full back till Downing was fit, and since he has been over run and generally looked lost. Ashley Young for all his talent, covers his full back better than most wingers in football.

I'd be a wee bit concerned with Flamini's situation at Milan.

Has he even been playing for them?

Plus even if he has played in the Prem before, it might take him a while to get up to speed.

We need a CM sharpish. I'd prefer more of an athlete in there, to give the midfield lungs. But if we can't manage that then Scott Parker will do nicely. He'd be able to hit the ground running and come straight into the side. A bit too similar to Petrov perhaps (though marginally better IMO) but should be able to sit deep along with Stan and give our backline more protection when required. He can also bomb forward and change the momentum of the game.

It's a bit worrying that NRC or Davies haven't featured in Kev Mac's plans so far.  I hope we aren't operating a policy of keeping MON's petty vendettas running, to the detriment of squad selection.

I though the game was crying out for a NRC-type today (earlier -by the time he cam on the game was gone) and putting young Clark in against a physical side keen to make an impression in their first home game was asking for trouble IMO. We might still have lost with NRC and Davies in the satring XI today, but I'm pretty certain it wouldn't have been by 6.

He played for them midweek in Europe (CL or EL).

What about Blaise Matuidi of St Etienne? Not the tallest but he has the strength of a bull and is very good on the ball, as well as being a really tenacious defensive player.

Barton said in an interview after the game that after he clattered Petrov, Stan 'went missing' which probably says a lot about what we're desperately missing - someone to stamp their authority on the game and dictate the play.  I firmly believe that in time Delph will be this man for us, but we can't wait around for him, we need someone in sharpish.

Is that swap deal of AYoung for Jenas, Keane and Bentley a bit more attractive?

Seriously, we are in a transitional stage at the moment.Maybe MON left because he saw what was coming. The next appointment will give us an insight into the direction we are heading in.If it is a McDonald kind of appointment, then maybe we might need to do the above swap.
