I thought Bellamy was wanted by Redknapp? I know Cardiff is his hometown club but would be really choose them over Spurs? Perhaps Man City were unwilling to let him go to a rival.
Which shows how well we've played hard-ball when it comes to selling Milner. They've eventually given into our demands (for money plus Ireland and the player presumably getting a pay-off from the club) when it appears they are happy to waste money paying at least a percentage of Bellamy's wages at Cardiff rather than him go to another competitor.

Would've been nice if we'd been able to push a little harder and get £20m up front, but I'd say over all, Villa have proven to be much less of a pushover when it comes to selling than we seemed to be under Doug.

I don't think it's that at all. I think Cardiff are Bellamy's choice not City's partly because it's his hometown club but also because they will as a Championship club will pay less of a percentage of his wages thus bothering City.

They seemed perfectly happy to let him go to any number of PL clubs but he chose Cardiff. Henry has even been up to his usual tricks in the media trying to persuade him to join Spurs rather than 'wasting his career at a lower level'. Perhaps he's even that great player at a big club he was blathering on about the other day?

Vacation ?

Once the Browns' season starts, he won't have much spare time

i think we may have a merry go round of keepers. Schwarzer to Arsenal, Big Brad to Fulham and Given to us.

Didn't spot it first read but very clever use of words Captain Trips

Why would he go on holiday when he's looking for a new boss? I know he has young Faulkner, but I'd imagine he'd like a say in who spends his money.

I know it takes a long time for news to get from civilisation to the Lanarkshire jungle drums but Cardiff have signed a few players before Bellamy so their complaint is a bit slow to be made.

I just hope Quinn doesn't go out anywhere with Bellamy though. Cardiff couldn't handle the trouble.

Well, we won't replace Milner's all round game, but we could replace him with two players - Ireland's superior creativity and, let's say, Flamini's superior bustly defensiveness. Those two and Petrov is a good midfield three in my view, leaving it up to others to fight for the front three places - or rotate the midfield with Downing or Young going central. We're just about getting a squad, by the looks of things.

I'd love it if Randy came back from Milan with Flamini.
