How about this for a scenario:-

Randy wants a 'neutral spend' in this window so that we don't spend anything and the wage bill stays the same.  Given increased revenue this would mean the wages/turnover ratio moves into a more favourable position and the lack to a transfer outlay means a trading profit.

Milner/Ireland deal with us paying Ireland the same wages, hence him after a pay off from Man City.  £16m transfer profit and wages unaltered.

Flog Davies, Shorey and Beye, with Clark, Lowry and Lichaj taking their places.  Even with a bit of a 'golden handshake' to the departing players, this should net £5m coming in.  We budget for giving these youngeters improved contracts, meaning an estimated £80k a week off the wage bill.

Sidwell and Heskey also go.  Transfer fee for Heskey is pretty much swallowed up by his pay off, but this still leaves us £60k a week lighter on the wages.  Something similar with Sidders, but £1m into the transfer kitty aswell as his £50k off the wages.

NRC and Luke Young stay.  NRC with the knowledge he'll go on a free this time next year, so anticipated further wages redcution there.

Remainig squad would be:-
Keepers - the two Brads and Parish
Defence - Dunne, Cuellar, Collins, Clark, Young, Warnock, Lichaj and Lowry
Midfield - Petrov, Ireland, NRC, Delph, Young, Downing and Albrighton
Attack - Gabby, Carew and Delfouneso.

So, that's a kitty to play with of £22m and circa £200k a week to recruit a striker and midfielder.  All the while bettering the club financially.

The issue I see is the departing players, as it's easy to say 'sell them', but someone also has to be willing to buy them.  Would Randy deviate from the above plan (if it's what he's thinking) to take a short term hit if all the outgoings didn't come off?

If Randy is signing players he and his contacts deem good value for a potential new manager, lets hope we can bring in Huntelaar, Flamini and Hleb as well as Ireland.

Is one of your tutors Tim Leary by any chance? :-)

Kevin Prince-Boateng has signed for Genoa, who have immediately loaned him to AC Milan for the season, which would suggest it is more likely they will move a midfielder on.

I reckon it'll be Flamini

I think with 15 days of the transfer window to go and the emergence of some of the young kids it is clear we should be concerting efforts to get rid of some of the players to generate minor funds but reduce wages to potentially bring 1-2 quality players.

This wont be easy but I feel the following should go

Heskey - we dont need him. If we stick with the 4-5-1 system young supporting a central striker we have Gabby and John to pick from. With the likes of the fonz and weimann to develop. He must be on 40K minimum. Id try wigan for a start available for 1m.

Davies - we dont need him either. Dunne Collins Cuellar Clark. 4 centre halves is amble. Again prob on 40K a week. We may get 4m for him. West Brom, Newcastle and after saturday west ham could be keen.

Beye - with the emergence of lichaj and the fact he is on 40K a week and he is 32 we need to move on. Think he could be hard to get rid of as he may just be happy counting his cash every week. Id sell him for nowt.

Thats 3 players on 120K a week we could maybe generate 5-6 million in transfer and 5-6 million in wages.

I would then try and bring in a winger as I want ashley to play in the hole. This only leaves us with downing and albrighton. Bellamy would be my pick but I think we would be too late.

N'Zogbia worth a shout?
