If Randy/Faulkner were looking after transfers, then the Milner/Ireland thing won't be affected by any of this. In fact I would bet that MON didn't want Ireland at all, wanted the cash and likely had his own targets in mind.

Probably Jenas or some other dross.

Anything like his form of 08/09 and he's comfortably one of the better midfielders in the league.
Agreed again.  But anything like his form of 05/06, 06/07, 07/08 or 09/10 and we've got a £10M stiff.

A bit harsh. Last season he was overlooked for other players or shifted out of position to accomodate the latest show ponies. In 07/08 he was still coming through (he was only 20) but was linking up well with likes of Elano and starting to look the part.

But there is an element of doubt around him, particularly mentally.
I spoke to a couple of Citeh fans about that and reckon its just a myth and they are genuinely gutted to be losing him if he comes. He was/is very popular there and that's always a good sign to me.
So he's not perfect but I reckon get him settled here and he'll be a big favourite and an absolute steal.

According to SSN Ireland is still in talks with Villa, what happens if the new manager doesnt want him, doesn't make much sense.

Well, Ireland will be a Villa player by the time we appoint a new manager. So if he doesnt want him it's tough. But really, why wouldn't he? Its not like we have an abundance of players like Ireland. In fact, we dont have any.

I'm fairly sure any new manager would be glad to have him. And when Delph is fit again he will form a pretty young and formidable midfield with Ireland and another dedicated defensive midfielder. Which in the meantime I suggest is NRC or Petrov.

Can't believe how we are being written off as not being in the top ten in the league next season. Get a half decent manager, we have a very good squad, Ireland will enhance that in midfield. I can't see many rolling us over easily, I think some will be in for a shock this season.

I agree. Also, Villa being written off is business as usual. The only reason they ever thought we'd be in any kind of mix up was the perception MON is one of the best managers around.

Fuck the media. They can suck my balls.

Are we to think that unless we sell the rest of the deadwood we can expect no signings?

I am sure they will enjoy, although looking down to see Richard Keys sucking your balls might give you an unexpected fright maz, shudder the thought.

The deadwood as I have said elsewhere will go, especially if it is made clear they are surplus to requirements. Young and Reo Coker aside who should be kept, there are 3-4 players that can free up 200k a week or so on top of the Milner, Shorey, Harewood wages being off the bill. Sidwell, Beye, Heskey, A centre half or the 4 we have can all go. People will buy them and they will move if it is clear they are not going to get a look in.

Maybe with a new manager or coach, the deadwood might not be deadwood any more.

Yes, Nige and Luke are good players who suddenly have a future here too.

I'm not a Curtis fan, but maybe he'll go someway to reaching his potential under a new man. Sidwell maybe too?

We've got players capable of playing in a modern, flexible system.

If we can line up with Luke and Warnock at the back, Petrov shielding and Nige bombing about next to him, with Ash, Ireland and Downing off Gabby I think we'll be a much more fluid team.

For this season, I'd keep Beye and Davies and sell Sidwell and Heskey.

That ambitious eh?!! No doubt we'd have paid something like £10m for him too which Spurs would have then gone and spent on someone twice as good for half the price...

They say they want to bring down the wage bill which is fair but we have signed a massive deal with FX pro, Seat, Heineken, sold 29,000 season tickets, We finished 6th last season and got to Wembley twice!

Where is the money?

Also Harewood, Shorey, Milner & Bouma are off the wage bill and we have sold Miler at a profit so why can't that money be put into the team?
