I was half asleep this morning but I'm sure that 5Live reported that Robbie Keane was staying put at Spurs -

Being as they don't normally broadcast 'gossip' I'm beginning to wonder if MON has any other possible targets
other than Stephen Ireland-

The Milner saga has become a joke (but no one is laughing) ...........Holte End hero Ian Taylor was talking on
TalkSport last night with Ray Houghton and believed £20m was as much as JM was worth and we should have
done the deal weeks ago-

Good job Taylor is not our manager then, otherwise we would not be getting Ireland.

With Milner the whole thing doesn't revolve around what he is worth, but rather what we can get for him!

Completely agree with this.We never wanted to sell him in the first place !! If somene knocked on your door demanding to buy your car you'd expect to get a lot more than the book price for it

What, rather than get 26-30m (depending how you rate ireland) for the sake of a few weeks' negotiation?

What a ridiculous statement in light of where the deal looks like ending up.

Indeed.  After Taylor's role in the Barry saga, he can go and fuck himself anyway.

Where exactly have Spurs "had some encouragement" on the Ashley front?

4 years into the new regime and we're getting stupid money for decent players plus just as good players in return.
See what I did there?
If this deal goes through, in the last 2 years we will have swapped Barry/Milner for Dunne/Ireland and picked up over £20m as well.
I think its fair to say, we will have had the best of the deals.

They aren't gonna be wasting time and resources chasing after players they believe they've no hope of getting. On the basis of it it does look a ridiculous move, but this is the third Summer they've been continually linked to him. If we have no interest in selling (which I'd imagine we don't) and the player had no interest in moving then they surely wouldn't keep trying their luck?

Apparently both clubs and the player have reached an agreement and it will be announced Thursday.

Along with our other big money acquisitions?

Bring on Thursday. At least we can bring some sort of normality back to the club, until the next transer window of course.

Well, one can hope but perhaps not. He'll do very nicely for starters though.

Absolutely, but given the sudden centre-back crisis wouldn't it nice to see Onohua pop up as a late addition to the deal? When he's done helping us out at CB v West Ham he can settle in at RB for the rest of the season  ;)

I know it won't happen, mind.

I can see us getting Ireland as part of the Milner deal, but then going back to City later in the window and signing either Onouha or Micah Richards.
