If we are to take two players from City plus the money, I'd go for Zabaleta. However, I do think the maximum number of players involved in any player plus cash arrangement will be one, and it will be Ireland (quite an exciting prospect). Also, I'm hardly convinced we'll get Flamini, and that £5m is stretching to optimistic, despite what all those reports said.

I've spent ages looking at City's squad seeing who the right backs were and completely missed Zabaleta who I'd always thought was a Centre half.

I've had a fondness for Richards for years too but he is far from a great mover of the ball. At City a lot of good players are going to end up looking for a new club.

This is part of City's problem - you just feel that they'll end up a bit like an international side. Without the time to prepare properly that clubs who've built teams do they'll end up stagnant in their style, over-reliant on individuals who find it hard to play well together all the time. He's a nutter, who constantly has fights with the manager, with the board, with the fans, with other players, all of it, and a young man like that thrown into a new country, with a totally different culture in terms of football and beyond, with the millionaire egos all around him, having to sit on the bench (something he really hated at Inter) - it makes a volatile cocktail. Everything known about Balotelli suggests an eventful season at Eastlands, and my God I hope it destabilises their season because I've honestly never wished failure on any team more.

But it's also possible that with the right manager and in the right environment he could easily be one of the best strikers in the world.

I completely agree, Dave, he could be phenomenal in the right environment with the right club and the right manager. The chances of that being Mancini's City at this stage of his career, however, are pretty remote.

Adebayor on loan for a season as pat of a deal for Milner would be a good move for us. Troublesome though he is, would be a big name, score goals and  be an interesting signing at least.
