Get Ireland in the Milner deal and add Van Der Wiel, Flamini and Hleb.

We'd have two fullbacks capable of providing width and getting forward. Petrov sitting as the pivot. Flamini, Hleb Ireland and Ashley rotating behind Gabby.

Change that to flamini and petrov both sitting deep and it's what I expect us to play long term.  I'm also not sure I'd go for hleb if we're going to play that as we really need to give Downing at least until January to prove his worth, and we don't really need a genuine winger to compete with him, a deep striker would be the better bet (which is looking likely to be Keane who I'll reserve judgement on if he does sign).

1 striker playing the deeper role, 2 wide men who can cut inside and open  space for the full backs to bomb forward and 2 holding midfielders to cover for the full backs, but both of whom are good on the ball.

I've mentioned earlier in this thread (about 100 pages ago) it's the typical brazilian formation and would suit a fair few of our squad now, and more importantly, fonz, bannan, delph and gardner will all work really well in it and lichaj looks like he's being moulded for that full-back role.

I'd hope MoN has seen the quality in the reserves and is building a team they can just slot into.

Never have i gone to a game full of optimism for a signing albeit loan, and left so disapponted!

I don't question MON's judgement but there have been a few full signings and loan that are woeful, i just hope they have refreshed there scouting network.

Hell, I'd even take Jo in place of Heskey. Looked very useful during his loan stint at Everton.

Believed to be closing in on torres as their next target!

Ballotelli , he who will never be Italian  according to the racist element , is a fantastic prospect however  a bit moody and poorly disciplined and at 30million only a mad mad club would ...OK he's gone to City
