Dunne getting captaincy is a big step I think, it makes for opportunities in Petrovs position.  What if McGeady is a good player?

What if he isn't? They are talking £10m I think is a big gamble for someone from the scottish prem

He's very highly rated though and just because they play in the scottish premier league doesn't make them a bad player......otherwise they'd sign for middlesboro

I'd take Santa cruz on a years loan deal, city won't be too worried if they can't move players out as they have no problem paying their wages, but there will be acfew rich pickings to be had.

Agreed.

If we were to close the summer out with Ireland, Parker, McGeady, Keane and RSC on board we'd be in a healthier position squad and balance-wise.

I'd prefer to see two absolutely outstanding players, one up top and one in midfield instead, but the above would be the next best option.

I don't care that he's from Scotland, my view is based on his Ireland performanes, where I've never been all that impressed.  £10m is too much - I think he'd be owrth a punt at around £6m.

Bellamy won't come here.

He really, really rates himself and thinks he's a cut above.

He's turned us down at least twice before anyway, preferring the charms of Blackburn and West Ham respectively.

City have just signed ballotelli for about £28m on wages of £3m a year on a 5 yr deal according to sky breaking news.

That's fucking insane, if true.

They really are vile.

And they then have the audacity to bleat about clubs putting the prices of players up when they come calling. What exactly did you expect?

He was saying that Cardiff would be the only other club he could play for a couple of weeks back wasn't he? Accordingly expect him to sign a four-year deal with Spurs any day now.

Why do you say that? he was Citeh's best player last season and could definitely do a good job for us.

I'm going to look at this in a completely unbiased manner now.

McGeady is a two footed player, with a decent if not Ash or Gabby like turn of pace. He has some tricks and always tends to try to take on and beat a man and punish a marker for leaving him some too much space. He also in my opinion has a bit more flair than our current wingers indeed I think he could play the central of the three free roles in a 4-2-3-1 or behind the striker in a 4-4-1-1. If we want to use the traditional idea of having two players for every position within the squad we do need another winger

Now lets get a bit biased and look at the negative.

However, his crossing ability and indeed general end product is not good enough for a top level winger. If you watch the videos on you tube it is mostly turns and tricks with crosses and goals being largely absent. He is a bit too lightweight and hits the deck faster than a sailor who didn't see a wet floor sign. He also under Strachan had a record of causing trouble both through disputes with the manager and with trendy local nightspots. However, I wouldn't really think this would be much of an issue with it probably being blown out of all proportion by the Glasgow media. He also has a face I find exceptionally punchable.

There is a risk with buying players from the SPL. As a league it is well a bit shit. McGeady is every bit as outstanding in it as Steve Davis and Shaun Maloney have been both of whom we have experience of. If you think of the videos where he's pulling all these turns and tricks the full back is giving him too much space. Would Patrice Evra or Ashley Cole do that? He hasn't shone much in Europe and indeed I think though I'm not sure that until last season he hadn't played in an Old Firm league match Celtic had won and believe me Rangers have been utterly shit for years. For my money he wasn't even the best winger in the league last season with Craig Conway and Jim O'Brien advancing far more convincing claims.

Genuinely I wouldn't be happy if we signed him but the lad has some talent and so there's scope for me to be wrong and if we sign him I dearly hope I am. I'd far prefer we went from another winger who plays in a top level European league rather than a level more similar to a match against Man City Elites at the Bescot. Someone like Bentley, Lee or N'Zogbia who could be gettable for a similar fee.

Looks like City are signing Balotelli.

They will have a very good team next season if they sign a decent centre back to play with Joachim Boateng.

Code: [Select]
                   Given

            Richards? Boateng Toure Kolarov

                  De Jong Toure

         Balotelli                Silva
                     Tevez

                    Torres?

31, biggest asset is pace and has dodgy knees, would want a long contract and big wages.

Steer well clear, IMO.
