According to the Express and Star 'the club's transfer kitty was given a record-breaking boost yeterday'.  Anybody know what that is about?

I assume they were referring to the kit launch/new sponsorship.

I think it was more than £10million as they said more than Nike's £10m deal.

So probably £10,000,005.

I'm reliably informed the sponsorship is circa £20m over 3 years subject to conditions.

And no, its not £2m +£18m if we win the league.

"Look, if Manchester United come in and offer the club £50m and give him 200 grand a week, I can't keep him," said McCarthy.

That's the first and last time I will hear or see the words Kevin Doyle and £50million in the same sentence.

Maybe Martin will misread the last bit and offer him a few Earth, Wind and Fire cassettes.

again if your in a race and in the top 3 or 4 for a lot it but fall away to 6th, its more impressive than running in at the end and getting 6th in a slightly better time

True, but using your own measure, the question is whether we were sufficiently "closer".

09-10 - 6th - 64 points
08-09 - 6th - 62 points
07-08 - 6th - 60 points

By one measure (position) it is not improvement. By another measure (points) it is, but that rate of improvement doesn't really look sufficient to suggest we're going to break the top four any time soon.

Now that Heskey is free from  the burden  of international football we are bound to get 2 more points this  coming season.
So 10-11  6th 66 points target achieved!
