You're the one suggesting Clinton Morrison on a free.

You say that as if it is a bad thing ...

I'd rather sign Leicester's bad-boy r&b star of yore, Mark Morrison. And maybe George Clinton.

Yeah, actually, they might work quite well together.

Englebert Humperdink is from Leicester.

Humperdink and Morrison (Mark) as a front two. Morrison would just have "The Mac" on the back of his shirt, I imagine.

sorry richard. i've been trying to think positive but i can't get the thought of robbie keane holding up a villa shirt and professing undying love to us out my head. at the moment i think i'd rather he just signed than have it hanging over us like the sword of Damocles

Greg on a serious note, the 20 goal a season is needed. Who do you think a realistic target is as based on the world cup the price of a decent striker at a guess is 20m plus

Darren Bent scored 25 or so last season, I believe.

They're not impossible to find. He's English and plays in England, too, so even Martin might have spotted that one.

*wink*

Definitely, Tom, in the three man midfield there's no need for Stan to run so much.

Honestly, the 4-3-3 is so blatantly the best way forward for us it does begger belief that he doesn't play it.

I think we should play 4-3-3 but I can understand why MON doesn't play it. Goals do become an issue with our players in a 4-3-3, Gabby will get 15 a season, Ash and Jimmy ten each and not much from the rest. By putting Carew into the line up and taking out Reo Coker you will get an extra 15 goals over the season. What we need to sort out is where the goals will come from if we play 4-3-3.

It's a worry I also share!

The other thing is that when Gabby does play as a lone striker, he doesn't seem to score as much, although he does do great work for the side.  I don't have any stats to back this up - it's just my feeling about it.

If you drop Gabby to say 10 and also get 10 from Ash and Milner, or more likely Ireland replacing him, then I think whoever comes in on the right of the front three needs to be getting double figures also.  That's 40, so you would hope for the rest to chip in to get to the 60 or so 4th place would likely require.

I recall in the season before last, when Gabby played alone for large parts before we signed Heskey and it went arse over tit, he scored a fair few. His goals actually seemed to dry out when he was partnered.

Think you've got the chemistry wrong there my friend. Two singers together wont work. We need a singer/producer combo to bring out the best in each other.

And it would be "The Mack", with the k.

haven't we got 20m? and wouldn't a 20m, 20 goal a season striker in his prime make more sense financially than a 10m 10-15 a season striker with  2 or 3 seasons left?

As I said, I have no stats to back this up, but my recollection is that he didn't score all that many during that period, despite playing well.  If you remember he started that season on fire (hatrick against Man City) he would have dried up a bit later on anyway.  Hopefully his game has improved to the point where he can effectively perform that lone frontman role without his goal scoring suffering.

The issue sometimes isn't having the £20m, but getting a £20m striker (and by that I mean one actually WORTH £20m) to sign for the club, as players in that bracket will want CL football.

If he treated his football career like he did his community service, Mark Morrisson would send along somebody else in his place wouldn't he?  I wonder if he can think of a big black bloke from Leicester shit enough at football not to give the game away.....

my opinion is that if Milner leaves then we will sign these 3 :

Tranquillo Barnetta from Leverkusen
McGeady from Celtic and
Mbark Boussoufa from Anderlecht

there seeme to be strong interest in all 3
