Aurelio is a good player.

How many times can Nursey get away with submitting that same article and pretending he's done some work?

If it's on a pay as you play deal I don't think Aurelio would be too bad a signing as cover on a free.

Brazilian ace Aurelio, 30, is a Bosman after rejecting a pay-as-you-play deal at Anfield following a torrid time with injuries.

Why would he reject a pay-as-you-play deal at Liverpool and then agree to one with us?

Buying Aurelio, Robbie 'five years too late' Keane and maybe McGeady but only after we've raised the cash by selling our best player?

I hope that is bullshit, as it doesn't sound like the ambition required to break the top four so much as a manager who has lost the plot trsnsfer-wise.

Although opinion does seem divided on here, Keane would be a good signing as far as I'm concerned and help push us on.  I doubt there's anything in the Aurelio talk and McGeady isn't good enough, IMO, but I'd give him a chance to prove me wrong should he sign.

Would you like to tell us who you relaistically think we should target in order to show 'ambition required to break the top four'?

Being linked with Keane is like being told you're going to get to shag a Hollywood star then finding out it's Sarah Jessica Parker.

Still better than finding out it's Nick Nolte.

John, why is the answer to being linked with unimpressive players to point out the players we should be signing ourselves?

The manager gets paid 3m a year to do that.

I don't see how moving up a level is going to be achieved by buying more players of a quality we already have, especially at the cost of selling our best player.

We need to improve the peaks of our squad. That rumoured trio of deals actually does the opposite.

Well, as a 6th place club with relatively limited funds, we have to pitch our tent accordingly.  Would I prefer Torres to Keane?  Of course I would, but we have to be realistic in terms of who we CAN sign.  We get linked with players and they are dismissed out of hand by some, but given our financial constraints and ability to lure top stars, I think it's a fair question to ask who you would rather we got.  If Keane is the best striker we CAN buy, then your argument is unfounded.  If we can realistically get better, then it has great merit, so why not tell us the player?

Personally, I'd try for Huntelaar, which I've mentioned in the past.  Quoted at £16m and he's in that small bracket of players below the very top of the game, but who we might have a chance of getting.

EDIT:  And I'd also ask why the answer to the question is always "That's the manager's job" and then we argue the toss about who he picks!

Be happy enough with Aurellio, he's got bags of quality.

He can play centre mid, such good technique. Him and Stan could be the holders in a new system?

It seems to me The Mirror have just thrown yet another name into the frame, like they do nearly every day. It'll be another name tomorrow.

Not sure. Don't think he's up to the hussle of the Prem, and he's now 30 with a piss poor injury track record. Seems a pointless signing to me, like Beye was, though I think he's better than Beye in fairness.

On a free, I suppose he's better as a left back option than Shorey.
