This is getting very boring for the rest of us who have no desire to find out who's dad is bigger than who's.

vaguely villa connected story. sort of. truly barmy if true. notw

MANCHESTER CITY have thrown Stephen Ireland, Nedum Onuoha and Michael Johnson into the package as part of a plan to sign Mikel Arteta.

All three have been offered in a swap deal to tempt Everton manager David Moyes to sell his star asset.

Despite City's swollen squad, they are trying to sign Arteta for a touch of magic in the centre of midfield.

The Spaniard, 28, is one of the most accomplished players in the Premier League but Moyes does not want to sell.

Ireland and Onuoha are expected to hold talks about their future with Italian coach Roberto Mancini this week.

But although Moyes does not want to lose Arteta, he is interested in a deal for Onuoha. The Toffees chief wants to strengthen his defence and believes the 23-year-old's versatility would be a big plus.

He plans to use Onuoha in a right-back role despite the former England Under-21 star normally turning out as a centre-half.

Onuoha has grown unhappy at his lack of chances at Eastlands and is keen for a move to kickstart his career.

He only made five Premier League starts last season under Mancini and has aired his frustrations in public.

Everton are willing to pay him £25,000 a week to switch down the M62 but it is the chance of a regular starting spot that will most appeal to the youngster.

Maybe Delph when he returns from fitness. I'd hope we get someone better than Sidwell, but oh well.

I don't know if I posted it on here or somewhere else but I had the idea that we'd sign a new defensive midfielder who would play with Petrov. Petrov would go to a role as more of a playmaker which Delph would take over the next season.

Petrov's a good tempo-setter but he doesn't have that type of spark in the final third that we'd get from Ireland.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I mean as a kind of passing midfielder behind Ireland in the setup, alongside another midfielder. A bit like Alonso and Gerrard with Liverpool a few seasons back.

I'd like to see the classic midfield three, with the advanced "final third" player, the holding player who also sets the tempo and breaks up play and a player who runs between the lines and works well at either end. In short, the third player is Milner, but Delph looks promising in this role, and who knows, we might sign someone else.

Roy's total budget is 20m so I think he needs to shop in Matalan. Ash is out of his reach.

From Sky Sports News;

Cameroon international midfielder Modeste M'Bami has hinted he could join Aston Villa this summer.

The 27-year-old, who had trials with Portsmouth, Bolton, Wolves and Wigan before linking up with Almeria, is again a free agent.

Reports in France have revealed Villa have joined the queue for his services and it is believed he will now meet with club officials.

While M'Bami has confirmed Martin O'Neill's side are an exciting team, he has refused to divulge where he will end up next season.

"I've been in contact with many clubs," he told skysports.com.

"Villa are a very good team but nothing's official. I'm not going to talk about anything."

And 'The People' say;

VIlla Ready WIth £8m McGeady Bid

ASTON VILLA boss Martin O’Neill is ready to make an £8million move for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady as he prepares for life after James Milner.

O’Neill had the Republic of Ireland wide man under his wing at Parkhead and his arrival would probably mean Stewart Downing taking Milner’s role in the middle.

Villa may have to take the money for Milner from MANCHESTER CITY if it becomes too good to refuse, with O’Neill demanding that the cash is re-invested. Celtic will let McGeady go at the right price and are already looking for a replacement, including Mexico World Cup star Pablo Barrera and Cardiff’s Peter Whittingham.

But i think that one is a regurgitation from a week or so ago.

I did'nt think Liverpool had any money at all, unless they could'nt trust Benitez to spend it. I think Hodgson will go back to Fulham and try and nab the likes of Hangeland.

As for these McGeady rumours, let's hope the press are putting two and two together because of MON's Celtic connections. That's a lot of money for an unproven winger.

Liverpool have little money to spend unless they sell torres and gerrard - hodgson says he agreed on leaving fulham that he wouldn't try and sign any of their players.

I can't see mon selling ash in any case , if milner is sold then Micah Richards would solve the right back problem nicely.
