I don't know if I posted it on here or somewhere else but I had the idea that we'd sign a new defensive midfielder who would play with Petrov. Petrov would go to a role as more of a playmaker which Delph would take over the next season.

Petrov's a good tempo-setter but he doesn't have that type of spark in the final third that we'd get from Ireland.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I mean as a kind of passing midfielder behind Ireland in the setup, alongside another midfielder. A bit like Alonso and Gerrard with Liverpool a few seasons back.

I've quite enjoyed seeing Greg make a complete arse of himself this evening. It's amusing to me because, whilst he's questioning the clubs ability to spend money on quality players, it was only a couple of weeks ago that he was getting his knickers in a twist because we had'nt signed Martin Petrov and Jermaine Beckford.

As for this Mysteryman Bloke, whist it's possible he has inside information on who were going for, him knowing what formation we are going to play before a player has even been signed is stretching it a bit maybe.

If they were giving him away (or on loan) perhaps. Might be worth a punt as per Saha at Everton.

But other than that, no thanks.
The level of investment most likely required for a permanent deal means we would need him for the bulk of the season, and you're very unlikely to get that out of him.

Agree about Santa Cruz. He was just one of those players Man City signed because they could afford to. He's not what we need and he's not even first choice for his country.

it was funny, because I was txting my source how shit Santa Cruz has become and plays like Santa claus now.  and he replied we have been watching him.

Youth players should provide back up to a first team squad of 24.
