Probably because he has been an unused sub in each of their matches so far.

He played the first hour of the game against Switzerland, before being replaced by Navas.

When did we ask him?

David Silva created 60 goal scoring chances last season.

That's an interesting stat. I assume it's not 60 goal assists, because that would be phenomenal. What constitutes a goal scoring chance according to those stats, Paul? I suppose you could say taking a corner or a set piece free kick means you're providing a goal scoring chance.

I'd assume that it was a cross/pass/set piece that lead to an attempt on goal, so basically an 'assist' but the striker misses or the keeper saves it?  If so then 60 in a season does seem a pretty big number, but then I've not heard a stat like this before so have nothing to compare it to.

sorry, apart from a goal against United that was pretty good, what has Joe Cole really achieved in the last season or two?  Am I alone in thinking he is overrated now?  Let him go to City or Spurs, he has been well and truly outclassed by Malouda this year

I reckon Jasskelinen at Bolton creates at least 60 goal scoring opportunites a season, as does Rory Delap?  Should we sign them?

I seem to recall a similar stat a few seasons back that had Valencia with something like 78 chances created.

At Wigan.

Before the WC, his agent gave a polite no.

As long as it was polite, that's good enough for me.

Right, I've learnt a lot today. Joe Cole turned us down, Milner's definitely off to City. What else?

Correct, McCartney's version is on one of the Anthology albums.

The Eduardo link genuinely surprised me. If MON is after him that'd be a sign that maybe he is willing to change his ways as a manager. We need an intelligent player who's good on the ball to bring out the best in some of the others. I had resigned myself to the fact that such a player would not be brought in by MON...this gives me a flicker of hope even if it is just a rumour.

To comment on Milner, I suspect he will be at Man City too. I think this will be a bad move for all concerned. He will be there as a sop gap until they buy somebody better next year. If Milner has any sense he will stay with villa where he will have regular football and a decent shout of success. We made Wembley twice last year, did Gareth Barry
and Man City?

More worrying for me is the prospect of loosing both Milner and Gabby. I could deal with us loosing Milner and having a shed load of money to invest in the squad, loosing Gabby too would be too big of a hit. Where will we find somebody else with his pace?

I don't see it as a strange link at all. We need a goal poacher and Eduardo fits the bill. The trouble is his all round game has gone to pot since his injury.

Mon does tend to buy one forieng in the english game each summer, Petrov, Cuellar and Beye for example.

Don't have a problem per se with the Eduardo link if we're sensible about it.

Everton took a chance on Saha after his injury-ravaged stint at OT and have done well out of the deal.

If we get him for nowt (or next to nowt: say £4 million or less) then fine. Anything approaching a major outlay and they can get facked.
